(Postdated)Rebels Surrender Fascists Surrender to the Interim Military Junta October 3, 2041
Field Marshal Cionaodh MacNiall Accepts the Surrender of Rebel Commander Finn O'Broin at Union Bay
The guns have finally gone quiet, after two years of vicious civil war that has ravaged the nation. Nearly 200,000 Beluzians have lost their lives in the conflict, and the great cities of the nation are now scarred by war. But now peace has blessed the land, and the once warring Beluzian people must now pick up the pieces of what remains and reforge a functioning society.
This past weekend, the last remnants of the rebel leadership met with the junta that has taken charge of the Beluzian government in order to negotiate a surrender of the last rebel forces fighting on in Union Bay, the last rebel pocket after the fall of the Feldbruck pocket and capture of many of the higher officials in the rebel administration. The rebel delegation, headed by Commander Finn O'Broin, met with the Military Junta, headed by Field Marshal Cionaodh MacNiall, aboard the Beluzian frigate BNS Neamhspleáchas. The Junta initially demanded the unconditional surrender of the rebel forces, but were convinced to offer all captured rebels more lenient punishments, including the prohibition of the death penalty in all cases.
The surrender document was signed yesterday at 2:00 PM and was immediately followed by the bloodless capture of the remaining 1500 militants and the arrest of the rebel delegation. Celebrations were held across the nation to welcome the new era of peace and end of civil conflict. These celebrations included a large military parade in Cirrane in which thousands of loyalist soldiers marched through the streets, parading rebel POWs.
Despite the end of the war with the fascist rebels, a new regime has been in power in the Bailon Archipelago since February. A revolutionary congress has been put in place by republican rebels after a counterrevolution against both the government and the fascist rebels. Despite agreeing to avoid conflict between each other during the civil war, the Military Junta refuses to recognize Bailonese independence and still views the Archipelago as a Beluzian County. The revolutionary government seems to think otherwise though, as they continually voice their independence from Beluzia. The Bailon Republic has abiding by a constitution similar to that of the Republic of Beluzia, and have scheduled their first elections for January of next year.

(Postdated)Elections 2042 The Free Bailon Republic Holds Its First Elections January 3, 2042
Keep Gael in Triabhainn, the Designated Seat of the Bailonese Dáil and Executive Council
For the first time in history, the islands of the Bailon Archipelago achieved independence from Beluzian rule when nationalist rebels declared independence from the failing Beluzian state in the midst of the civil war. Two days ago, exactly two years after the Bailonese declaration of independence, the first elections for official positions in the Bailon Republic were held. A number of parties were approved of by the interim governing council, and five of those parties were able to gain seats in the two chambers.
Among the parties that gained seats, three were not entirely new to Bailonese Politics. The Páirtí Báileanige Neamhspleáchais (Bailonese Independence Party) was one of the big winners in this election, and were a regional party that primarily advocated for increased devolution of power from Cirrane to Bailon. Joining them were two other pre-fascist Beluzia parties, the conservative Traidisiún agus Moráltacht and liberal Saoirse, who gained a sizeable amount of support. The two new parties to enter Bailonese politics were the center-left Páirtí Daonlathach Sóisialta (Social Democratic Party) and the MacArthurist Páirtí na Kilaelige nDaoine (Kilani People's Party).
Elections for the Dáil were based on the Luthorian model, though slightly modified. The 100 seats in the Dáil were distributed to parties under a proportional voting system. The Executive Council, unprecedented in Bailonese and Beluzian history, is comprised of only nine Councilors, three from each Isle. Unlike TDs, Councilors are directly elected rather than appointed by the winning party and share executive power with the Uachtarán.
Dáil Composition
Party | Ideology | Seats | PBN | Nationalist | 27 | TaM | Conservative | 25 | PDS | Center-Left | 22 | Sao | Liberal | 15 | PKD | MacArthurist | 11 |
Executive Council Composition | Báil
| Éireann
| Wolfpine | 1 | PBN | TaM | PDS | 2 | PBN | PBN | PKD | 3 | TaM | Sao | Sao |
Though they did not obtain the majority of the Dáil needed to form a government, the PBN won a plurality of seats, beating the TaM by a thin margin of two. Political analysts predict that a coalition government will be formed between the PBM and TaM, as the platforms of the two parties are fairly similar.
In the Executive Council, the PBN also achieved a plurality, winning an overall three seats in two of the Isles. Under the Constitution, the Executive Council is headed by the Uachtarán, who hold most executive power. Like the councilors, the election of the Uachtarán is held in a first-past-the-post manner, the difference being that elections are in two rounds, to ensure the Uachtarán receives a majority of the votes. Winning this election and becoming the first Uachtarán of the Bailon Republic was Stiofán MacNéill of the PBN. MacNéill was a prominent member of the Revolutionary Assembly and has been an outspoken activist against the fascist state during the rule of MacArthur. He received 34.67% of the vote on the first round of the election, and 64.09% on the second.
Update: January 7, 2042 After a few days of negotiation, a government has been formed. As expected, the governing coalition is between the PBN and TaM, the two largest parties in the Dáil. The deal made would see the seats in the cabinet be split evenly among the two parties, with the PBN holding the position of Taoiseach and leading the government. The leader of the PBN, Cóemgein Monahan, decided to appoint himself as Taoiseach. Like Uachtarán MacNéill, Monahan also served as a prominent member of the Revolutionary Assembly before the elections.

MacArthur's State Funeral Previous Uachtarán's Funeral Held Two Years After Assassination May 29, 2042
Painting of Uachtarán Michael MacArthur by John MacDean, 2039
With the Civil War finally at a close and the people of Beluzia at peace, the government has decided that it is finally time to mourn the death of Uachtarán MacArthur as a united nation. MacArthur, who was murdered by the extremist terrorist McPhee less than a week before the beginning of the Civil War, had been mourned by his family in a private ceremony at the MacArthur farm in Negunia in August 2039, during the Civil War, and was laid to rest at his family cemetery. In accordance with the wishes of his family and his own wishes to be buried at the MacArthur farm, the former Uachtarán was not exhumed in order to be buried in Cirrane.
The nation-wide funeral consisted of effigies of MacArthur being carried in processions across each of the major cities in Beluzia, and a number of small towns funded their own processions as well. The main event, however, was a multi-day procession beginning at MacArthur's grave in central Negunia and ending at the site of the main funeral in Cirrane. The marchers who joined this procession carried a number of artifacts relating to the Uachtarán, including his service hat and sidearm. The procession ended at the Presidential Palace, where a crowd waited and watched as the effigy and artifacts were left the feet of a statue of MacArthur and as a priest prayed at his statue.
In attendance at the main event were a number of Beluzia's social and political elites, though common Beluzians from all around came to show their respect, closing off multiple city blocks. Also in attendance were a number of foreign dignitaries, including every foreign ambassador and representative to Beluzia. Invitations for the event were also sent to the heads of state of every country that Beluzia maintained cordial relationships with, though those who came must have been lost in the crowd.
At the end of the funeral, the Arm na Beluzia band and choir played Amhrán na Beluzia, the national anthem, to the crowd of mourners. Simultaneously, a church band and choir played the national anthem at Michael MacArthur's grave, so that he may hear the song of Beluzia one last time before he leaves our world permanently to stay in the domain of God.
