First of all, THANK you to everybody who has been taking part in Terra Nations. It's really good to see what you've all been doing.
It is generally accepted, I think, that it is okay to interact RP-wise with NPC (non-player controlled) nations in limited ways that would not be considered god-modding if the nation was controlled by another player.
One of the issues that is beginning to emerge is that some players would like to interact in a more significant way with NPC nations. This might include, as examples, forging marriages between prominent dynasties, buying weapons or establishing trade deals.
It was probably quite inevitable, and a natural development really, that this would happen. Especially given the large majority of nations in Terra Nations are not controlled by any player.
The proposal I am going to suggest is that I establish a "Requests for interactions with NPC nations" thread in the Moderation section of the forum. Players would then be free to post their proposals there. Moderation would not approve those proposals within a certain time limit (perhaps 2 to 3 days?) in order to give other group members an opportunity to express any concerns or ask any questions.
It is also possible, going forward, that we might have some kind of "RP Panel" to deal with this kind of thing.
Any thoughts on this?
On a somewhat related matter, I am also thinking about allowing some people to control more than one nation at a time. Any thoughts on this? What ground-rules, if any, should be in place? Should there be a ban on controlling more than one nation in a given region? Should there be a ban on forming significant alliances or "empires" between nations controlled by the same player? These are just some of the questions to think about.
