ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 11th December 2020 editionCONGRESS OF THE SOTFRONTConstitutional changes proposed, introducing direct elections to the State Council for the first time The Congress at the SOTFRONT HQ in Borisoslav
BORISOSLAV - Delegates of all SOTFRONT member parties and organisations, as well as regional offices, have met in Borisoslav today.
The Congress was opened, as always, by Standing Committee Chairman and President Kristina Snigir, who delivered the report. This was followed by discussion and debate, primarily on the topic of constitutional reform. The main issue discussed was introducing direct elections to the State Council, and involved proponents of keeping the current system, introducing a purely directly elected upper house and a mix, and a myriad of electoral systems were also discussed. In the end, a resolution was adopted, which supported reducing the number of indirectly elected (by Sejms) seats to 200, with the remainder to be elected in single member constituencies by instant run-off voting directly by citizens.
The Congress also supported the continued diversification of the economy and slowly driving out the need for oil, especially by the aggressive economic stimulation by the Four Year Plans, the first of which is nearing its second year. The Congress was closed by Deputy Chairman and Premier Silayev.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 19th January 2021 editionCRISIS IN THE ASSEMBLYAs constitutional amendments are rejected by the State Council, the LKP is in disarray after left-wing split off Sergey Borisov, veteran LKP Duma deputy and now provisional leader of the People's Progressive Party
ALEKSANDROVSK - The State Council's rejection of constitutional amendment introducing direct elections for half of upper house seats has resulted in disarray in both houses, as the left wing of the Liberals leaves in protest.
The constitutional proposals agreed on in the SOTFRONT's previous Congress, which stipulated direct election of 200 of the 400 seats in the upper house through instant run-off voting in single member constituencies, were introduced to the Duma earlier this month, and after some negotiations with LKP Duma leaders, it was passed, supported by a grand total of 402 out of 525 deputies, with only the NDP voting against (one rebelled however), uniting the SOTFRONT, Greens, Liberals and National Unity for the first time. However, a number of long-term LKP members in the State Council defied the whip, and as a result, the amendment was rejected after failing to reach the required 2/3rds majority.
The LKP however, refused to reprimand the deputies and let sleeping dogs lie, which, ironically, resulted in a split from the other side of the party. Sergey Borisov, long-standing Liberal-Constitutionalist Duma deputy and famed social democrat, led a group of Duma deputies and Council members out of the party, namely, the same ones who voted with the government on the Transgender Recognition Act late last year. They were joined by the NDP deputy who voted in favour of the amendment, and was also in favour of the TRA, Sofia Galygina. These representatives formed their own parliamentary group and have laid groundwork for an upcoming social democratic and progressive political party, the People's Progressive Party, provisionally led by Borisov himself. The party has announced it is "open to working with both the government and the Green League", and has already formed a so-called Pink-Green Alliance (RZA) with the ZLT.
The LKP Duma deputies raised concern with the presidium of the State Duma, demanding the deputies vacate their seats and let other individuals on the party list to take their place, but the President of the Duma, Lera Yakunina, rejected the demand, since "parliamentary groups separate from elected lists are permitted in the Duma*; once you are elected to the Duma, you are entitled to serve the full 5 year term". The LKP has protested but to no avail.
*officially the SOTFRONT seats are split up into parliamentary groups based on member parties and organisations however they are relatively united and as such the whole list is treated as one

ALEKSANDROVSK - President Snigir, with her third term underway, has blasted Mordusia for their military intervention in Likatonia and has declared Trigunian support for the recently established Likatonian Workers' Republic.
The Mordusian Royal Assembly had sanctioned military intervention in favour of rebel-monarchists on the island of Pirland against the sitting socialist government, which had only recently taken power in a revolution against the previous regime and had began plans to set up a new constitution for the country.
In "solidarity with our Likatonian comrades", as President Snigir puts it, the TDFR has officially "condemned the illegal Mordusian intervention into the sovereign territory of the Likatonian Workers' Republic, during a sensitive time of transition". President Snigir has expressed her intent to pursue closer relations with the Likatonian revolutionary government and perhaps even military support to counter the Mordusian incursion.
It seems with growing confidence, the young President is becoming more assertive on the global stage.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 22nd March 2021 editionNEW BUDGETNew budget sees mild increases across the board thanks to increased state enterprise revenues Minister of Finance Nikolay Kanadin
ALEKSANDROVSK - The 2021 budget has passed through the Duma earlier today, by 275 votes to 250.
The budget sees mild rises in most sectors, in particular healthcare, education and economic ministries, as well as the military, thanks to the continuous growth of the Trigunian public sector and the revenues associated with from both domestic and foreign markets. Nevertheless, despite the increases, the budget deficit has been lowered very slightly.
The War Ministry has announced that the new increase in spending will be used to gradually modernise the outdated equipment in the Armed Forces. Furthermore, this may be seen as a clear gesture towards the Mordusians that Trigunia isn't just all bark and no bite, as the Foreign Ministry has opened talks with the Likatonian Workers' Republic about potential assistance.
The economic ministries have jointly announced through the State Committee on the People's Economy that the new funding will be used to further expand the rate of the Four Year Plan in order to exceed targets. The second year of the plan is nearing completion and the Council of Ministers is interested in continuing the modernisation at the same rate.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 8th April 2021 editionLOCAL ELECTION BATCH CONCLUDED30+ Uyezds and 250+ Volosts and Municipalities held local elections - SOTFRONT see minor rise, LKP and NatsYedinstvo collapse, NDP and RZA gain LKP leader Mikhail Kolomeitsev following the exit polls
BORISOSLAV - A batch of local elections have been held yesterday, and the Electoral Commission has officially published the results for the 36 Uyezd Assemblies and 257 Volost Skhods and Municipality Veches that were up for election, including second largest city Borisoslav.
The SOTFRONT had increased its vote share however lost a majority in one Uyezd Assembly and a handful of Volosts and Municipalities. Overall the SOTFRONT was happy however as this shows the people are largely happy with the socialist path taken by the government. In the legislatures where it lost its majority they went into coalition with the RZA (Pink-Green Alliance) of the People's Progressives and Greens. In Borisoslavsky Uyezd, traditional stronghold of the SOTFRONT, the Front crossed the 70% vote threshold for the first time since 1943, when the far-left took over 72%, reaching 70.2%.
The RZA are considered the big winners in this election as they came third overall by vote share, besting the LKP by more than 6% of the vote and taking an outright majority in two Uyezds and a number of Volosts and Municipalities, and becoming the official opposition in 7 Uyezds and junior coalition partner in 1. This shows that the Liberals have lost the confidence of their former voters even more since the general election in 2019, and the creation of a social democratic party, the NPP, has spelled the end for them.
The LKP lost all 5 Uyezds it held and has entered in a coalition government with National Democrats in 2 Uyezds and is the official opposition in only one Uyezd. Leader Mikhail Kolomeitsev is under fire and his resignation or even removal is likely. Elected in 2013 to modernise the look of the party, he led the party to being the junior coalition partner in the 2014 election. His major loss in the 2019 had started talks of removing him, but he largely kept the situation under control. That was until he failed to discipline rebelling State Council members and the following defection of the NPP, had increased pressure on him. Now after this utter failure at these elections have pushed it to the front of the LKP members' agenda.
The Union of National Unity has also collapsed, failing to cross the 3% barrier in all but one Uyezd, 4 Volosts and one Municipality. They had bled votes to both the NDP, as conservatives gradually cooled down, and surprisingly also the SOTFRONT, as desperate people saw the socialist programme's ability to fix the failures of neoliberalism.
The NDP has also seen modest gains taking one Uyezd outright and governing an additional two in coalition with the LKP. This has given NDP leader Vasily Stepanov more control over his party.
Results in Uyezd control:
SOTFRONT majority | SOTFRONT-RZA coalition | RZA majority | NDP majority | NDP-LKP coalition | LKP majority | TOTAL | 17 (-1) | 1 (+1) | 2 (+2) | 11 (+1) | 5 (+2) | 0 (-5) | 36 |
Results in approximate vote share:
Party | Votes | Change | SOTFRONT | 53.4% | +1.4% | NDP | 26.0% | +3.0% | RZA | 11.9% | +11.9% | LKP | 5.3% | -12.5% | SNE | 2.3% | -3.6% | Other | 1.1% | -0.2% |

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 3rd May 2021 edition"INTERVENTION ONLY WITH PERMISSION" - GKNOFollowing a key meeting of the State Committee on the People's Defence (GKNO), it has announced that Trigunia will intervene on behalf of the Likatonian Workers' Republic only if their government requests it General Vladislav Balsunov, War Minister
ALEKSANDROVSK - An important meeting of the State Committee on the People's Defence has been held, where the GKNO came to the conclusion that Trigunian intervention on the side of the Likatonian Workers' Republic will only come once requested.
The official statement from the GKNO was "Trigunia will only begin intervention with permission of the sole legal authority in Likatonia: the present government of the Likatonian Workers' Republic. We will only assist insofar the Likatonians wish us to, at no cost overstepping our boundaries."
At the moment the Trigunian government has only offered aid in terms of advisers and arms, and is waiting for the official response, however are willing to "go further upon request", as stated by General Balsunov, War Minister. If the Likatonians were to accept, it seems that Likatonia would soon become a proxy conflict between socialists and monarchists.
Kalistan however, has asked Trigunia go no further than condemnation, however the government insists "that legal permission to get involved is justification enough to protect a sovereign nation's rights from foreign incursion and support for illegal rebels".

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 10th May 2021 editionLOPUKHOVA NEW LKP CHAIRMANMikhail Kolomeitsev, LKP Chairman since 2013, has been removed in a vote of no confidence, as Nadezhda Lopukhova is elected as the new leader Nadezhda Lopukhova, new LKP leader
NOVOROMANOVSK - At the recent LKP Conference, 8 year long leader Mikhail Kolomeitsev was ousted from the Chairmanship by an enormous majority, and was replaced with Nadezhda Lopukhova, part of the classical liberal wing of the party.
The heavily battered Liberal-Constitutional Party, following their collapse at the recent local elections, have removed disgraced Chairman Kolomeitsev almost unanimously at this year's Party Conference, and elections for a new leader were held, with classical liberal Nadezhda Lopukhova competing with social liberal Pavel Kukushkin, libertarian Leonid Popov and green liberal Valeriya Vorontsova.
Lopukhova narrowly won the contest in the second round, thanks to scepticism towards the social liberal faction from which Kolomeitsev came from and the lack of support for other wings. However this has caused much controversy, as swathes of social liberal members have refused to work in high ranking positions while Lopukhova is leader and a Duma deputy even defected to the People's Progressives, increasing the seats they hold to 27.
This shift of the party to the right is a bold move, and what will come of this is yet to be revealed, but what we can report is that Lopukhova has already entered negotiations with the NDP for a potential electoral alliance, meaning that soon, Trigunia may become a bloc based political system, with the SOTFRONT, RZA and NDP-LKP alliance, whatever it will be called, all competing for power. The first big test for Lopukhova's LKP will be next year's two batches of local elections, which will have 85 Uyezd Assemblies in total up for election.

BOZO RIVER, KALISTAN - A detachment of Trigunian ships led by RKR Gorodskoy has arrived in the new leased harbour at Bozo River in Kalistan.
This comes after the Trigunian and Kalistani governments agreed that the latter lease part of the local base to the former. Trigunia has done this move after "dismay at the imperialist-interventionists so ruthlessly suppressing a government striving to establish a society for all" and so wishes to secure a fleet on the Anantoese Ocean in order to protect against against potential threats against "other socialist states, including our friends here in Kalistan".
The fleet was formed from a large part of the northern White Fleet and a minor flotilla from the Mad Dog Fleet, with this new naval unit receiving the name Anantoese Fleet. The flagship of the fleet is the guided missile Pobeda (OOC: Slava) class cruiser RKR Gorodskoy, and is supported by an array of smaller ships.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 25th October 2021 editionNDP-LKP TALKS CONCLUDEAfter 6 months the hopeful negotiations to unite the right have broken down but "cooperation" has been promised NDP leader Vasily Stepanov
ALEKSANDROVSK - After 6 long months of arduous negotiation only vague promises of "cooperation" have come out of the NDP and LKP talks.
With Nadezhda Lopukhova's election to the leadership of the LKP, the party entered negotiations with Vasily Stepanov's National Democrats to find an agreement on an electoral alliance for the upcoming local elections and the generals in 2024. While on most economic issues the two parties were largely in agreement, the talks quickly run into a roadblock regarding social issues.
The LKP, as liberals, pushed for much more relaxed restrictions on abortions, narcotics and other similar issues, while the NDP displayed reservations about such policy. While the NDP is considered relatively progressive for a conservative party, they are nevertheless still opposed to such "radical" proposals and hence were less inclined to form a full-on bloc.
Furthermore the NDP supports the state monopoly on healthcare and education while the new classical liberal leadership of the LKP supports permitting private institutions to participate, which again proved to be a difficult hurdle to overleap. As a result, despite half a year of negotiating, nothing more than a statement promising "cooperation and mutually beneficial assistance" has been agreed on.

SVAROZHICHGRAD - The State Committee on the People's Economy has issued orders to a series of Trigunian car manufacturers to design a brand of electric-gas powered hybrid personal cars for mass production.
5 enterprises received the order, all having previous experience in mass producing personal cars: SAZ (Svarozhichgrad Automobile Plant), BorMash (Borisoslav Machine Building Plant), RAZ (Romanovsk Automobile Plant), KAZ (Kuznetsovo Automobile Plant) and the AvtoKLes (Automobile Concern of Lesnov).
The order is aimed at designing a hybrid gas-electric powered personal car in sedan, hatchback or estate, and crossover configuration for mass production, with the final goal of making it supplant previous domestic cars and foreign imports as a cheaper and greener alternative. However, potentially two or even three models may be adopted in order to provide choice for prospecting buyers.
The design bureaus of all enterprises which received the order have already busied themselves with development and the government seems optimistic about the future of Trigunia's automotive industry, especially with the planned expansion of existing plants and opening of at least one new one as part of the Four Year Plan.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 20th March 2022 edition2022 BUDGET SEES INCREASE IN DEFENCENew budget spells out significant rises in spending on both the War and Sea Ministries Nikolay Kanadin, Minister of Finance
ALEKSANDROVSK - The new budget has passed the State Duma shocking many outside observers as spending on both military and navy has been upped by the Socialist government.
The government which presented its socialism as pacifistic has "been forced to strengthen its armed forces as threats to international socialism have increased from bourgeois-imperialist powers across the globe", sending a clear message to the world, that Trigunia shall not tolerate any more interventions in socialist states.
While the military and fleet aren't the only gainers from this budget, they are the most visible. The continuing Four Year Plan has lowered unemployment significantly, so the government no longer has a need to finance such a large social security net for those out of work, and has hence decreased the budget allocated to unemployment benefits, instead raising spending on more permanent social security such as pensions, child benefit etc., healthcare, education, economic ministries including those of Trade and Industry, Supplies, Ways of Communications, Agriculture, and Telecommunications. Increases were also fuelled by continuously increasing sales from the growing state-owned sectors of the economy.
However, as stated, defence, both land and naval, has received a boon with increasing global tensions between socialists and militant bourgeois-liberal and monarchist forces worldwide following the Likatonian Crisis. Both the War and Sea Ministries have declared their intentions to discuss plans for spending this new budget with the GKNO, however plan to "bring Trigunia's armed forces up to speed to protect both the Trigunian revolution and socialist revolutions across the globe".
Finance Minister Kanadin apologised for failure to decrease the deficit but due to the "rapidly changing situation" such a move was necessary to "defend the interests of socialism". The Finance Minister promised the "next budget will specifically seek to lower the deficit".

ALEKSANDROVSK - The State Committee on the People's Defence has issued an order to Trigunia's numerous defence industry to begin developing designs for a comprehensive modernisation of Trigunia's People's Armed Forces.
This comes with the increased spending on both War and Sea Ministries, with these Ministries promising grants to the design bureaus who create the "best, as determined by the GKNO" designs to develop prototypes and later, if accepted, establish serial production. The modernisation plans includes small arms, artillery, tanks, IFVs, aircraft and ships, and the extensive Trigunian defence industry and their bureaus have busied themselves with this order.
The GKNO hopes "to bring Trigunia's strong People's Armed Forces up to speed to inhibit the spread of bourgeois-liberal and monarchist-aristocratic imperialism, and protect international socialism from foreign threats". General Vladislav Balsunov, War Minister, is seen as spearheading this movement, as a known convinced Kaminskist and revolutionary socialist.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 30th April 2022 editionFIRST UYEZD BATCH CONCLUDESThe first of this year's Uyezd Assemly election batches has concluded, with interesting results Sergey Borisov at RZA HQ as exit polls were coming out
ALEKSANDRVOSK - The Electoral Commission has officially released the results for the 50 Uyezds which were up for election this time.
These results are mixed for the LKP, who regained one percent from previous local elections last year, mainly due to the NDP, while most likely bleeding a lot of the social liberal vote to the RZA who gained significantly this election. Nevertheless the LKP has still lost all but one majority in Uyezds. The SOTFRONT has again made gains in some areas and losses in others culminating in a minor increase in total vote share as compared to the previous elections to this Uyezd batch but nevertheless a loss of overall majority and coalition with the RZA in one previously SOTFRONT Uyezd. There have been a number of RZA-SOTFRONT coalitions in previously LKP and NDP Uyezds as well.
As mentioned previously the NDP actually declined quite a lot as NatsDem voters more socially liberal and economically right wing switched to the LKP. Vasily Stepanov was quite unhappy about the results and some think he may be resigning and giving way to someone younger, however this has not been confirmed and most think he will stay and simply readjust policy for the liberal conservative National Democrats. National Unity has fallen so much that we at Izvestia will, beginning with this article, put the SNE as part of the "other" in our graphs. This has prompted their leader to resign and the party is again on the brink of dissolution.
Results in Uyezd control:
SOTFRONT majority | SOTFRONT-RZA coalition | RZA majority | NDP majority | NDP-LKP coalition | LKP majority | TOTAL | 26 (-1) | 4 (+4) | 5 (+5) | 10 (-4) | 4 (+1) | 1 (-5) | 50 |

ALEKSANDROVSK - The Council of Ministers has officially determined that housing can be given out to citizens free after assessing the results of the Four Year Plan so far to discover oversupply of apartment blocks.
The ambitious government programme primarily funded by the Ministry of Supplies has successfully created enough houses to provide all citizens with accommodation free of charge, but has created more than actually needed. The Premier announced the provision of housing to all citizens for free at a press conference today, where he also revealed the overconstruction of apartment blocks, and the government plans for their exploitation.
The apartments are to either be kept as a reserve for future housing, or to be converted into offices, hotels, government buildings and "houses of culture", combining art galleries, poetry recital sessions, small cinemas, museums and various lectures etc., with these houses of culture run by committees elected by members of the local communities.

NOVERSK - Minister of Foreign Affairs Rodion Durov has travelled to the Democratic Republic of Dolgava after their government responded favourably to an offer for them to join the Keris-Macon Economic Community.
With KMEC so far only having Trigunia and Kizenia as members, the Trigunian Council of Ministers welcomed Dolgava's enthusiastic response to potential membership, and has sent the Foreign Minister himself to negotiate with the Dolgavan President. KMEC promises relatively unhindered access to Trigunian and Kizenian markets and a say at setting the economic regulations and tariffs of the customs union. This means Dolgava is likely to receive both Trigunian and Kizenian investment, and allow Trigunia to expand their access to the Dolgavan market.
It is most likely these negotiations will result in a positive reply.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 4th January 2023 editionCAR DESIGN COMPETITION UPAll 5 designs have been reviewed and two have been adopted One of the new designs, the SAZ Bereza, which has entered mass production
SVAROZHICHGRAD - The design competition for a new personal gas-electric hybrid car aimed for serial production has concluded, with two winners: SAZ and RAZ, with Bereza (birch tree) and Barsuk (badger) respectively.
Bereza will be available in sedan, station wagon and crossover configurations, while the Barsuk only in sedan and hatchback. Both are intended to be sold domestically, as well as potentially to foreign markets, being marketed as a cleaner alternative to gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Trigunia seeks to positions itself as the chief challenger to the growing issue of climate change on Terra, and will tackle this by not only reducing reliance on fossil fuels for energy generation, but by developing cleaner forms of transport.
Serial production has already been established for both vehicles, at both their home plants and others, with SAZ Bereza being built at the SAZ, BorMash and AvtoKLes while RAZ Barsuk at RAZ and KAZ. Already many citizens have shown interest and have preordered cars, and the government seems hopeful that other car brands may be phased out. Already serial production of other domestic cars is being slowly shut down, with only spare parts being manufactured from now next year onwards.
The government was also busy with setting up necessary infrastructure to support this, with petrol stations opening both charging bays and natural gas reservoirs for the refuelling of these new car models.

ИзвестияThe largest national newspaper of the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic 11th April 2023 editionFIRST FOUR YEAR PLAN OVERThe Council of Ministers has officially announced the end of the first Four Year Plan, and has begun formulating a new plan. The Premier speaking before the Duma
ALEKSANDROVSK - The Premier announced before the Duma tonight, that the first Plan for the Long-Term Development of the People's Economy, dubbed Four Year Plan, as part of the government's Perestroika programme has officially ended with most goals reached.
The Four Year Plans are considered the key component of the Restructuring or Perestroika programme launched by the Socialist government, which aims to restructure the heavily unbalanced economy of Trigunia, and for the first four years, has been relatively successful. Heavy industry and light industry has grown tremendously, with infrastructure, the tech and services sectors also experiencing some growth. Housing, as was announced almost a year ago, has been oversupplied while plans for expansion of some mining industry, in particular rare earth elements has failed to meet goals. In general however, the plan was reached and has diversified the economy somewhat.
With this year's budget dedicated to lowering the deficit it is likely that the new Four Year Plan will not start this year but the government has said that it is laying out plans.
The government also "wishes confirmation of the mandate of the people at the coming 2024 elections" before it continues the programme, however this is superficial since the SOTFRONT has retained and even grew its vote share in the intermittent local elections. The local elections of October 2023 will be the final show of popularity for the parties before the actual general elections for the Duma and Sejms next year.
