The Defense Minister has warned Trigunia that any escalation at their end in Likatonia risks a hot war, ZHK reports. At a press conference in the capital today, Toyoharu reiterated his nations commitment to peace and security in Dovani-Seleya and that the intervention in Likatonia is intended to end an internal crisis, not continue it. He then proceeded to warn the Trigunian government that any support for the rebels would lead to a, "conflict of interest between his government and their own, a conflict between maintaining peace and winning a war". He ended by indicating that such a conflict of interest "could expand to a conflict of force very quickly". The Defense Minister's warning comes as the conflict in Likatonia, which appears to be drawing to a close, has been exacerbated by overtures by Trigunia to the socialist rebels stating that if the terrorists asked for military help the Trigunian government would provide it. Such a move risks expanding the conflict beyond Likatonia's borders, with risks of conflict between Sekowo and Trigunia itself over Likatonian airspace. Such a conflict could spiral out of control, something which the Sekowan government and its allies in the region do not wish to happen. The Ministry of Defense also announced that in the event that there was a possible risk of Trigunia entering the conflict in its closing stages, the Sekowan government would proceed to enforce a no-fly zone over Likatonia airspace and the surrounding seas in an effort to prevent Trigunian interference. Such a move would in the worlds of Toyoharu, "hopefully dissuade the Trigunian government and military from making foolish actions." Tensions between Trigunia and governments throughout Dovani-Seleya have in the past two years reached fever pitch with the socialist government in Trigunia sponsoring the government of Kalistan in its efforts to block the Ananto Straits in breech of international law, as well as its support for the socialist coup in Likatonia which has led to the proceeding crisis. Their attempts to become involved military in the Likatonian Civil War are but a continuation of a long track record of transgressions on the rights of nations to sovereignty and economic freedom. The conflict in Likatonia has so far continued, with success for the royalist coalition at all fronts, with the Sekowan ISAF providing close air support for Mordusian ground forces in their campaign to secure the mainland from the socialist rebel threat. There have already been major reports of surrenders on mass by many of the rebels, indicating a rapid collapse of morale. The war is estimated to be over by the end of the month, if the current rate of advance continues.

The Sekowan Intervention in Likatonia is drawing to a close as reports indicate Mordusian and Likatonian loyalists have reached the capital Clovisport. The rebel forces appear to be in complete disarray after the loss of their ground, air and naval assets, and there have been multiple incidences of mass surrenders throughout the mainland, ZHK reports indicate. The Department of Defense has declared the war, "practically over" and is already in talks with Mordusian and Likatonian ministers over plans for the post war Kingdom of Likatonia. The Imperial Sekowan Airforce has contributed significantly to the campaign, providing close air support for Mordusian and Likatonian forces as well as providing high tech reconnaissance and Airborne Warning and Control Systems to the conflict, enabling the development of an enhanced battlefield picture and allowing precision strikes to aid in ground operations. The Prime Minister has called the Sekowan Airforce's conduct throughout the war "exemplary", saying they have shown great constraint limiting the number of civilian casualties while also proving deadly to the enemy on the battlefield. The Defense Minister reiterated the PM's comments, stating that the Sekowan military has; However, the opposition has called the Defense Minister's comments tone death, drawing to reports of various war crimes on both sides of the conflict, most carried out by rebel forces on captured royalists. Muto Sanzo, although congratulating the military on its success, suggested that now that Sekowo has demonstrated its power and influence on world affairs through force, future disputes will be easier to solve through diplomatic means.[/div]

The Sekowan Government has announced that it has reached an agreement with the governments of Luthori and Lodamon on joint research and development of the X-43 stealth fighter, and that the fighter will serve as Sekowo's premium multi-role fighter upon time of completion. Reports indicate that Adashi Defense, subsiduary of the Adashi Zaibatsu, will be working in cooperation with SlipStream, Leyland Granholm and Horizon Technology on the program which is predicted to produce one of the most advanced fighters on the market. The Ministry of Defense has stated that the X-43 will provide the Imperial Sekowan Air Force with the capability necessary to defend Sekowo's national interests well into this century. The X-43 program, which began operation in July 2020, was begun by the Luthori and Lodamese governments as a means to produce a modern, highly maneuverable multi-role fighter. The jet is expected to have advanced radar and communications technology, allowing for communication with current Sekowan fighters such as the J-2. This would provide the Imperial Sekowan Air Force a battlespace picture far surpassing prior fighter models, allowing for quick target acquisition and enhanced information sharing capabilities. However, the most exciting aspect of the X-43 is its stealth capability, with a predicted radar cross section far smaller than any jet currently on the market. This is obtained through the use of radar absorbing materials and an internal weapons bay, minimizing RCS and allowing for targeted strikes to be performed without alerting enemy forces to the fighter's presence. Adashi Defense appears to be more than prepared to take part in the research and engineering tasks which are necessary for the creation of such a modern fighter and is already in communication with its collaborators on methods by which Adashi's skills as an electronics manufacturer may aid in the development of the fighter's internal communication systems. The fighters advanced statistics however indicate a long research time scale as well as a high price tag for research and production. The Defense Minister during the press conference announcing the fighter suggested that although the X-43 will serve as the mainstay of the Imperial Air Force following its production, it may prove necessary to purchase a stop gap fighter to serve during the time delay between now and the X-43's completion. Current talks between the Ministry and various aircraft manufacturers are on the table, with the government emphasizing speed and air-supremacy as key acquisition targets.

The Government of Sekowo is in the process of negotiating a landmark trade deal with Luthori, sparking excitement and trepidation within the business community. The Luthori Foreign Minister Jordan Tannenbay is currently in Mizuho participating in talks with the Foreign and Economic ministries on plans for a broad economic agreement between the two nations. The Minister of Economics, Trade and Industry RH Aoi Benjiro has reiterated the statements made by the Luthori FM earlier today, announcing that Sekowo will be seeking a large scale trade arrangement intent on decreasing tariffs and inviting foreign investment. The goal set out by the Economic Ministry and the Luthori Trade Office is to achieve ¥140 Billion (HLP Ⱡ10 billion) worth of total trade within the first five years of the deal being signed, a massive increase in trade and investment. Current statements made regarding the deal indicate that it will entail a decrease in tariffs in a number of industries, most notably a decrease in Tariffs on Luthori agricultural goods which are fast becoming the largest imports from Luthori. There also appears to be increased interest among Luthori banks for the establishment of a new Financial Centre in Mizuho to form the staging ground for future foreign investment in Dovani. LLBC, Fairisles and SP Sampson have already suggested Mizuho as the perfect location for a regional financial hub, and with the growth in foreign direct investment brought about by the deal they appear poised to begin the move. In exchange for an end to tariffs on Luthori agricultural and financial assets, the Sekowan government is requesting a decrease in tariffs on Sekowan electronics, machine tools and motor vehicle exports, three industries which have long served as the backbone of Sekowan exports. Adashi, Hakomi and Tanaga are expected to be the largest winners from any decrease in tariffs, with Zumi Motors and Adashi Electronics set to make large profits from increased competitiveness in the Luthori consumer goods market. There are however, lasting concerns among many businesses of the possible adverse effects of increased foreign trade and investment. The Sekowan agricultural industry, once a major competitor on the global market, is now a shell of its former self; and the expected flood of Luthori agriculture could quickly spell an end for the farming industry countrywide. There are also fears that the move of Luthori Financial Institutions could pose a threat to established Sekowan Banks, like YICB and NBS. Further issues entail the long standing neo-mercantilism of Social and Liberal Democratic administrations, with increased Luthori influence possibly marking an end for toleration of interventionist economics, sparking fears among the weaker Zaibatsu propped up by government subsidies. The government has declared that this trade deal marks the beginning of a new future for the Sekowan economy, a modern internationalist future, taking advantage of the widespread protectionism plaguing much of Dovani and Seleya. It appears that the Liberal Democrats, and their Civic Democrat opponents are both falling behind free trade policies. How this will effect the future of Sekowan economics appears to be seen, but as it stands Sekowo appears on the brink of becoming a major player in eastern Terra.

The Government's of Sekowo, Mordusia and Kalkalistan have signed a landmark Treaty which cements their tri-national military alliance. Long standing deliberation over the necessity of a military alliance involving the three nations appears to have finally come to fruition, sparking a new era of Defense Cooperation between Mizuho, Alcaria and Kalkalibad. The Ishinawa Cooperation Treaty was signed in Ishinawa by chief military officials of the three countries. The Treaty establishes a joint task force, initially of 10,000 military personnel to serve as a quick reaction force. It also establishes a intergovernmental organisation, the ICTO, tasked with enabling cooperation through the maintaining of relations between the three country's top military brass. The two major components to the organisation are the Ishinawa Cooperation Council and the Military Committee. The Council, a governing body made up of the Defense Ministers of the three countries as well as assembled experts, is tasked with organizing military exercises and coordinating the response to any attack. The Military Committee is made up of the Chief's of Staff of the three nations, who's role is to advise the Council on military policy and strategy, as well as command the joint task force in the event of an engagement. Defense Minister Toyoharu, in a statement made after the signing of the treaty stated; The signing of the Treaty appears to be in direct retaliation to the Trigunian involvement in Kalistan and the rise of the radical left in Northern Seleya. Since their joint military operation during the Likatonia Crisis, there have been increasing military and diplomatic links between Mizuho and Alcaria, which combined with the economic agreement currently under negotiation between Sekowo and the Three Mountains has led to a direct alignment of interests between the two monarchies. HM Prime Minister Yuji,in his latest speech to the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of defensive and economic ties between both sides of the Anantonese Ocean, as well as further afield to Luthori;The upcoming Sekowan House of Representative election has caused an increase in cabinet legislation both on a domestic and international level as the Liberal-National Coalition seeks to achieve its policy objectives while maintaining its electoral popularity in the face of increasing centre-left threats. The Civic Democrats have over the past months reached out to the electorally fading SDP in order to ensure a possible future coalition in the event that they become a minority government. The effect that such a government would have on Sekowan foreign policy is as yet unknown, however, it appears that the ICTO, as well as the economic treaty with Luthori, has widespread popular and cross-party appeal.

Adashi Defense has unveiled its long awaited next generation fighter jet. The Adashi J-30 Seiryū (青竜, "Blue Dragon") sports a wide array of advanced avionics and sensor equipment, as well as high maneuverability and engines capable of achieving speeds up to Mach 2. Adashi has announced that it intends to market the fighter to a wide variety of buyers internationally, beginning with the Imperial Sekowan Air Force. The J-30, at the time codenamed X-2, has been under secret development since 2003, only recently being announced to the public in 2016 to much speculation. Its long research time has since 2017 been grounds for concern among military analysts worried of increasing costs and technical problems. However, it appears that the vehicle has been produced to a high standard if footage of flight tests are to be trusted. Most of its capabilities are still unknown. The fighter sports a delta wing and canard configuration, similar to the Unionfighter Typhoon, with a relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire flight controls. It appears to be capable of super-maneuverability attained through the use of its canard flaps, suggesting a capacity for air-superiority fighting which is further enhanced by its advanced engine capable of achieving Mach 2 at high altitude and 1400 kmph during low altitude flight. The Seiryū appears to have multirole capability to serve both as a fighter and as an attack aircraft, allowing for decreased costs. Such capability is of great interests to many nations with limited military funding and resources, requiring a limited number of aircraft capable for use in a variety of tasks. Adashi has announced that the avionics system on the aircraft is fully programmable, allowing for the updating of the J-30's electronics package with future advanced targeting and sensor software. This also increases the vehicles modularity, making it more accessible to a number of armed forces with different service requirements. Following the collapse of the F-16 purchase deal and with the licensed production of F-15's stalling, the Sekowan Air Force is showing a high degree of interest in the Seiryū as a stopgap measure, providing a replacement for the quickly aging J-1's and J-2's while the X-43 program remains in the early stages of research. Military analysts in favour of the acquisition of the J-30 emphasize the fighters superiority to the J-2's, enhanced multi-role capability and versatility as a future platform for development into the next century. The fact that the vehicle is manufactured at home is simply an attractive edition to an already great package. However, the programs critics are concerned about increasing costs and have advised the government to wait for the vehicle to be fully tested before making a deal with Adashi. Upcoming elections will also play a key part in the jet fighter's success domestically. Whatever occurs domestically, Adashi appears to be focused on producing a fighter capable of out competing its competitors both regionally and on a Terran scale and the Blue Dragon may be the best bet to propel the Sekowan arms industry into the international arena.

The Civic Democratic Party has won the House of Representatives General Election, gaining 137 seats just enough to cross the 234 seat threshold required to form a majority government. The RH Suto Yuji resigned his premiership soon after the final result came in at 2 AM December 11. HM the Prime Minister Muto Sanzo has accepted Imperial Commission from HIM the Emperor and is now de-facto PM until he is formally sworn in on January 1 2023. Sanzo's party, once a small center left splinter group of the Liberal Democrats, is now the largest party in the House of Representatives with 50.6% of the seats. The LDP has suffered its worst defeat in the parties history gaining only 117 seats, a quarter of the total seats up for election; a loss of 202 seats, the vast majority of which the CDP won. It was a good night for the third party National Democrats, which although losing 17 seats, retained their overall strength. However, the collapse of the LDP's majority, and with a Center-Left party with a majority in the House, they have lost a significant amount of the bargaining power they held within the Coalition government. The poor results of the Social Democrats have continued, with them being overtaken by the radical Democratic Socialist Party, which gained 2 more seats in the House to become the fourth largest party. There have already been suggestions of talks between the SDP and the CDP over a possible merger following the poor turn out.
The Civic Democrats have over the past days laid out the groundwork for a series of economic and social reforms they wish to pursue in an effort to improve the economic well being of the society and to defend Sekowan domestic and international interests. However, with the House of Chancellors still divided, it will be an internal struggle for laws to be easily passed which will allow the Civic Democratic platform to become a reality. The House of Chancellor Group B elections scheduled for December 10 2023 are therefore vitally important for the securing of power by the Sanzo Administration. HM the PM Muto Sanzo, in a speech made to cheering crowds outside the Kantei, Mizuho, said;

The Social Democratic Party, at one point the party of power in Sekowo for much of the last few decades, has collapsed following infighting and split, merging with the Civic Democrats and Democratic Communists. Following continued terrible election results, with the SDP's support base fleeing the party to the centre and left, the SDP's days have been considered long numbered. With the split and the influx of the SDP's membership to the CDP and the DCP, their has been a significant political shakeup; with the CDP and DCP set to change their names and positions to accommodate their new political wings. The CDP recently announced that it had voted to change its name to the Progressive Democratic Union, and that it would along with its current political positions of free market economics and the liberalization of Sekowan society, pursue closer ties to workers and small businessmen as well as incorporate social liberal policies into their future manifestos. According to polling the CDP's support base consisted significantly of disenfranchised SDP voters, and hence an appeal to small businessmen, students, intellectuals and workers is expected to significantly increase their perceived electorability among their base; with little chance of the party's right moving to the Liberals or Nationalists any time soon. The DCP, radical leftists, have accepted the more socialist orientated SDP members with open arms; changing the party's name to the Sekowan Socialist Party and rejecting their contentious communist label. However, their perceived move to the centre-left does not match their policies, which remain radical and in the opinions of many a threat to the Sekowan way of life. It is likely that their electoral share will not greatly increase with this influx of new members; the radical segment of the Social Democrats having mostly retired from politics following their party's collapse. The changes on the left of the political spectrum are set to greatly change the face of Sekowan politics. Already the PDU is pursuing a more progressive agenda; especially in regards to increased trade with the West and proposed regulation of the old Zaibatsu in support of increased competition and an end of "oligarchical" economic relations. There has also been increased push back against the Liberal Democrats Modern Universal Healthcare Act, perceived by many as too profit orientated and at risk of internal corruption which could lead to consumer price gouging. The LDP-NDP alliance has seen the change up as a great opportunity to steal conservative minded voters from the new Progressive party, and has increased its campaign of propaganda in an effort to convince their traditional voters to return to them. However, their success appears to be minimal as of current polling, indicating the rise of the centre-left may be a permanent reality for many years to come.

The Ministry of Defense has announced that it has come to an agreement with Adashi for the purchase of a initial batch of 62 J-30 Seiryū for use in the Imperial Sekowan Air Force; where they are expected to eventually replace the J-2 as the air backbone of the modernised military. The J-30, revealed by Adashi back in August 2022, is a highly modern fighter, with advanced avionics and equipment capable of a number of roles from air superiority to interdiction strikes and of reaching speeds of Mach 2, perfect for the use of Standoff weaponry such as the Baltusian JASSM, JDAM and JSOW. The J-30 is expected to be the main fighter of the Sekowan military until the completion of the X-43 fighter program, however it will most likely remain in mainstay operational service. The J-30 has so far had a highly successful initial marketing campaign, with many nations interested in the acquiring of the J-30 to supplement or replace already existing fighter stocks. Newly independent Keymon has taken a great interest in the jet; with negotiations between Adashi and their government already underway. The J-30 acquisition was mostly negotiated under the Liberal Democratic government, however the Progressive Democrats appear to be continuing their prior government's military and strategic commitments. The threat of conflict in the Dovani-Seleya region, although greatly lessened following the end of the Likatonian Civil War, remains high as Trigunian involvement in North Seleya continues. The Sekowan Ministry of Defense, in their announcement of the acquisition, declared that they must remain ever vigilant and that the J-30's modern capabilities greatly increase the ISAF's capacity to defend Sekowo from any threat posed to it.

MIZUHO, SEKOWO; Pressure has been building on the HM Muto Sanzo's government over its ineffective governance of Sekowo as the effects of Sanzo's Second Term comes to fruition. The government's widely condemned isolationist stance has combined with growing incompetence at home leading to what one leading Rep. called, " an explosion of anger" from not only the business community but also the wider public. Muto Sanzo's government came to power in the 2023 shock election; incorporating his at the time new Civic Democratic Party and the battered husk of the once powerful Social Democrats into the new Progressive Union. Early gains in social and economic policy over the first three years, with a noted fall in inequality and increased access to health and welfare funds, allowed his party to come out ahead of the Liberal-Nationalist Alliance in the 2026 elections. However, following their 2026 victory they have struggled to pass much of their policy agenda. Increased labour laws were struck down by an alliance of back-benchers and the right opposition; and moves to streamline the economy through reform were prevented by Socialist intervention on both sides of the isle. What's more the government focused further and further on domestic policy at the expense of the nations national interest; concerning the military and civil service alike. The situation came to a head in December 2027 when the unions, led in part by the growing Socialist Party, carried out a widespread strike which crippled several main industries vital for Sekowo's economy; most notably the main Zumi Motor Plant in downtown Toyama. Although the government rapidly cracked down on the unions; hence preventing lasting economic damage; their image as a party of power was destroyed in both a public and media firestorm. In addition to this, union membership of the party dropped rapidly following the accidental killing of a union member by a cornered riot officer; who was later acquitted on manslaughter, an result which the government refused to comment on. Progressive Party polling has understandably taken a nose dive following these incidents, with Muto Sanzo himself suffering the greatest downturn. Current polls indicate a 40% vote in favour of the party in the upcoming 2029 Councillor Elections, while Muto Sanzo himself has polled at an abysmal 20% approval rating. Smelling blood in the water, Progressive Party member's opposed to Sanzo have called numerous votes of no confidence, most of which have narrowly failed. Many more have left the party to join others or serve as independents. The Legislature is currently facing severe gridlock, and the government appears to be on the rocks. Whether Sanzo resigns before or after the 2029 election; a radical shift in the Progressive Party appears only a matter of time, the only question remains whether they can maintain a grip on power, or will they allow the Liberal Democrats to return to prominence once more? The Government of Sekowo has today ratified the Alcaria Agreement after several months of negotiations between them and the prior ratifiers of the treaty. HM Muto Sanzo declared that the governments ratification of the economic treaty marked the beginning of a new economic age and the commencement of a series of widespread economic reforms which attempt to modernise Sekowo and bring it up to date with the policy of other world leading states, such as Luthori and Mordusia. The Alcaria Agreement, an expansion of the Three Mountains Agreement first signed between Luthori, Keymon and Mordusia, establishes a wide reaching free trade area between the former three states as well as Darnussia and Likatonia. The ratification of the treaty by Sekowo ends the long ratification process, bringing the treaty into full effect. The Agreement is expected to massively increase trade and investment between Sekowo and the other ratifiers, hence enabling the establishment of closer economic ties between Sekowo and the West. The treaty received widespread support by both houses and both major parties, with only the Socialist Party and a minority of the Nationalists against the treaty agreement. The treaty is expected to not only expand Sekowo's relationship with the rest of Terra, but also enable Sekowan brands, such as Adashi and Zumi-Tanaga far greater market visibility and the ability to expand their product lines to meet different international requirements, hence bringing Sekowan technology and transport up to standards of the world leaders in those specific industries. The minority opposition who opposed the bill however, predict increased threat to Sekowan industry from competitors abroad, which could lead to the possible destruction of the domestic market for Sekowan businesses. Furthermore, the risk of lower quality products which do not reach Sekowan consumer expectations is expected to rise as different companies with different quality standards enter the Sekowan market, possibly leading to an increase in faulty products and corrupt business practices.

Sekowan tech giants have gone from success to success with the establishment of trade deals with the west, a new ZHK investigation finds, suggesting that the governments defensive economic posture may be unnecessary. Sekowan brands such as Adashi, Zumi-Tanaga and Hakomi have grown by an estimated 10-20% following the signing of the Luthori-Sekowo trade deal and the subsequent ratification of the Alcaria Agreement between the former as well as Mordusia, Darnussia, Keymon, and Likatonia. The effect of the Alcaria Agreement's free trade policy has enabled not only access to foreign markets, but also increased brand recognition Terra wide. Adashi has had the most success with the recent developments in free trade, with their phone, television and electronics products being shipped throughout the globe. Zumi Motors has also seen a huge uptick in sales following further successes in Mordusian and Luthori transportation markets. These upsurges appear to run contrary to the current Government's inactivity on the economics front; suggesting that increased free market access has improved the sales of Sekowan products far more than government intervention. This development has not gone unnoticed by the Opposition parties, with the Liberal-National Alliance calling for a broad set of trade deals throughout the whole of Terra not only with members of the Alcaria Agreement but also with nations in Dovani and Seleya. Some opposition groups, such as the Trade and Investment Group (TIG), a major economics think tank of the Nationalist party, have called for Sekowo to use its international diplomatic influence to cooperate on the formation of an International Trade Body to ensure increased free trade and access throughout the whole of Terra. Such an organisation would serve to mediate disputes, as well as fund efforts to improve the global economy through loans from a global investment bank. Although this plan currently exists on the political fringe, its popularity amongst businessmen and entrepreneurs suggests its may not be as unlikely as it first appears. Although Free market development has greatly improved the Sekowan economy, there are still concerns within the global community surrounding the Zaibatsu system, leading to growing opposition abroad and at home. Most notably, the oligarchical structure of the Sekowan economy is likely to lead to growing scrutiny from Western states who have a far longer history of laissez-faire economics. Although the Progressive Party maintains its support for the Zaibatsu and the Sekowan Economic model, the right opposition is increasingly moving away from the position of Yujists (ex-PM Suto Yuji having greatly supported the Zaibatsu) and towards a more hands off approach by the government, enabling the free market to eventually result in the collapse of the Zaibatsu system. Advocates for the Zaibatsu however are concerned that the end of what many consider as inherent corruption and monopolistic tendencies could result in an increase threat of hostile takeovers from foreign companies; as well as a decrease in overall quality. Luthori companies such as Panoramic, Miliband and Surge Microsystems have increasingly come into competition with Sekowan tech and manufacturing companies. Such conflicts have so far been limited by the horizontal nature of the Zaibatsu; a defence which would be lost if the Ancien Régime ends.
