KalMoCo rolls out its new series of Farm Implements Full automation still a thing of the future Springfield, Odufaray January 18, 2025
The New MoCo Cultivator plants a field many times faster than previous all human crews
Kalistani Motor Company is diversifying. Its initial run of consumer bikes announced last year was a success and MoCo has been supplying the Kalistani auto market for years with weird cars that are fun to drive but not very practical, but MoCo has been working on industrial machinery as well. The new set of KMC farm machinery was launched at a trade fair last fall and is already finding its way out into the fields of Odufaray, Suldanor and Ananto.
KMC announced the development of new tractors, cultivators, seed drills, plows and tillers, and finally combine harvesters. The full Combine aims at replacing the old threshing machines common across farms in Kalistan, and looks to simplify the harvesting and winnowing of various grains grown in Odufaray. MoCo's first line focuses on grain and root crops, but they also plan on a 2026 release of a MoCo grape harvester and an automatic sugarcane harvester. MoCo believes that ODEN fields will continue to be harvested by hand, as more skill in identifying and collecting than a machine can provide is currently necessary for marijuana, opium, and coca production. There has been word of a potato planter and harvester in the planning stages, but as Kalistan does not grow many potatoes, there has not been a strong demand for potato implements.
"We look forward to making these implements more widely available to Kalistani farmers as well as those in other nations. The MoCo farm machinery represents an opportunity for greater productivity of our farms and plantations, as well as the reduction of manpower needs."
Farmers viewed the release of the new MoCo farm implements with optimism. Henrietta Armstrong, of Springfield, who owns more than 425 acres and plants wheat to sell locally and rye for ODEN, says the new tractors will increase her bottom line. "Due to the Republican law against owning too much land, we have been constrained in how much land we could plant. The Food Bank program and price supports of the socialists have helped, but for the most part, we've really had a ceiling, caused by the need for just human labor, which has really put a dent in our profitability. However, with these new farm tools, we will be able to plant closer, utilize more of the farm, and till our cover crops into the soil easier. And then when Harvest season comes around, we can get our crops up sooner and to the market more reliably than ever before. I mean, we'll get the most out of our land now, and with fewer workers needed. We can start training agronomists."
The Republican Bank intends to offer loans to help farmers acquire these new machines, and will purchase some itself, for lease by farmers who cannot afford to buy outright.
While the new MoCos represent a significant improvement of the potential of Kalistani farmers right now, the future is still on hold. "We would love to see GPS driven combines and cultivators," said Armstrong. KMC spokespeople confirmed that the technology currently exists to drive farm vehicles by GPS, but Kalistan lacks the GPS infrastructure, and consequently, Kalistani farmers will have to wait until Kalistan can send some payloads on an international rocket. For now, the new MoCo farm equipment is a godsend for Kalistani farmers, and we can expect to see them being used across Kalistan as early as this March.
KMC Stock rose in the Kalsie for the third straight month, now at 143.04 on the Index.

Brief: News of Withdraw of Mordusian Tea leads to massive sell off of Stock by Kalistani Investors Selloff sure to produce uncertain effects for Mordusian Parent Company Kaliburg, Ananto September 6, 2024
News of the sudden withdrawal of Mordusian firm Bebidas Anvesco from the Kalistani market led to a dramatic sell off of Kalistani shares of the joint firm Pure Vida Tea-Kalistan, opened in Kalistan just a few short months ago. "Luckily, we seem to have beat the Mordusians to the divestment punch," said one investor David Ramos, who sold all his shares of the company on the internal release of the news. Other Kalistanis holding stock in joint venture followed suit, with the Pure Vida Tea- Kalistan (PVT) losing nearly half its value in a matter of an hour following the opening of the Kalsie this morning. "Well, they unilaterally made the decision to pull their product from our country," said PVT-K CEO Henry De La Este. "As per the terms of the agreement, Kalistani investors would supply 51 percent of the capital and the real estate, while BA would supply 49% of the capital and the product. We'd sell it here under their name for it. We kept our part of the bargain. While the exclusive shops were being built, we sold the Mordusian tea in coffee houses. It became a fad. And then BA pulled the rug out from under us, just unilaterally, without any input from the voting majority on the Board of Directors, declared that Mordusia will not keep its part of the bargain. They told us very clearly that without their Tea, this company is worthless. So we organized Kalistani shareholders and sold our shares in their company while they still had some value, and I suppose the Mordusian investors were left holding whatever worthless paper there was left in PVT-K. Its not our concern. We simply were closer to the Kalistani Market than they were, and since this joint venture was majority Kalistani Owned, our shareholders have liquidated the company that Mordusia has no intention of working on with us." The opening cost of the share of stock in the Kalsie was K32.35, indexed at 344.56. When the news dropped, the Kalsie was already opened for trading, and Kalistani executives got word that the company was going to liquidated, regardless of the fact that Kalistani investors controlled 51% of the company. "So I said to the Kalistani members of my board: 'We gotta do something. no way they're going to stick us with this company. We gotta do something before word gets out." A quick email to the main investors found its way to smaller investors and investment managers, and at precisely 8:56 am Kaliburg time, 4 minutes before markets opened in Mordusia, Kalistani investors sold their shares of stock, dropping the price of the share to K7.80 Indexed at 80.66, a loss of more than 75% of its value in one minute. When Markets in Mordusia opened for business, the stock was worthless, because early morning Mordusian investors realized what had happened in Kalistan, and quickly sold for what they could get out of the stock. "I think the Mordusians lost their shirt on the sale," said Beth Fredricks, a market analyst closely associated with the Kalsie. "The stock was built on expectations of long term sales. Investors had priced in the fact that new capital construction needed to be done soon, but they thought that the supplies would still be available throughout the initial setup phase, and the company would still be making money licensing the teas here in Kalistan while their proprietary shops were being built. It clearly didn't happen that way. The Mordusian parent firm pulled the rug out from under the Company, and Kalistani investors struck back something firece." Nobody knows the long term effects the PVT-K divestment will have on Bebidas Anvesco. But Analysts were quick to add that even though some small investors might have taken a bath because they did not know about the quick sale in time, most Kalistani investors in PVT-K tripled their investment and walked away clean. The last official act of the Board of Directors taken this afternoon, over the objections of the Mordusian Minority, who stringently called for bankruptcy, was to vote to name an agent in Kaliburg to liquidate the property, then to donate the money to paying back Investors who had lost money on their investments, beginning with Kalistani investors, and then moving on to international investors with whatever is left, and then to dissolve the company. With a bare majority, right down the line in terms of country of origin, PVT-K ceased to exist. There is no news about what would replace it, if anything. "I guess its back to coffee," said one Kalistani drinker, with little sign of regret.

Premier Omari officially requests clemency for Beluzian Rebels Offers resettlement in Ananto Dah, Ananto February 16, 2025
Premier of the Republic Thomas Omari quietly addresses Beluzian humanitarian crisis
Premier of the Republic Thomas Omari (SPoK) asked the Foreign Minister to communicate to the Beluzian Government Kalistan's willingness to accept captured members of the Arm na n-Obrithe Movement, the communist insurgency which has been fighting the Fascists in Beluzia. "It is clear to us," said then Deputy Omari in a public speech following the capture of AnnO leadership last fall, "that the situation for Beluzia's Leftists is not only not going well, but is nearing a critical state. If we do not act quickly for the succor of the Beluzian Left, they will be utterly wiped out. The Beluzian Government may represent this as a matter of national security, but at the end of the day, these are lives we are talking about, and if Kalistan can do anything to save them, I hope our Government has the foresight to try." Since his rise to the Premiership, Omari has spoken numerous times about the Beluzian situation. The incoming government has dispatched high level envoys from the Foreign Ministry to see if they couldn't meet with Beluzian Representatives, to strike a deal to save these beleaguered Leftists through clemency and self-exile. So far there is no official report one way or another about success of talks, but the Beluzian papers are reporting that the Government has at least considered the possibility of allowing the militants to move to Kalistan as an alternative to execution. "We have prepared for the unlikely possibility that the Government will grant our request to take in these people. Outside of Dah, there is a town named O'Rourke. It was founded by Beluzians more than 100 years ago, and most Kalistani's of Beluzian descent still live near there, as well as in Vrassa. We would offer to build the new arrivals houses, to find them jobs and to allow them to integrate into Kalistani society, and then at the time when Beluzian affairs have calmed and stabilized, we would work with the Beluzian Government and the new arrivals themselves on whether of not the Beluzians can be returned. We assume that after integration into Kalistan, these folks, who oppose the Right wing Government in Beluzia, might indeed not want to return, and in that case, they will have already been fully adopted by their new home and will become a permanent part of the Kalistani people." The Premier offered various proposals to improve the chances of clemency and exile as opposed to execution. "We could work with the Beluzian Government to ensure that these people do not attempt to sneak back into Beluzia and return to the Way of the Gun. We could make it possible for these people's families to visit them here in Kalistan. This would, of course require some degree of normalization of relations between Kalistan and Beluza, so we could work out flight schedules and so forth. And of course, commercial interaction will follow that. All of this is in the realm of possibility, if the Beluzians allow those Leftists to leave." The numbers of Beluzians who would take the opportunity to come to Kalistan is completely unknown. The number of Leftist militants that the Government has captured and is still holding is unclear. But Kalistan is not phased. "Our country is big enough for all," said the Premier. "And it makes sense that if Kalistan is becoming the center for Leftist politics and thought, that Beluzian Leftists should come here and make a home." The Premier said that he awaited a response from the President of Beluzia.

Defense Minister announces end of Trigunian SOFA "Trigunian Mission at an end in Kalistan" says Brethrenist Bozo River CAGCC, Ananto April 8, 2025
General Ursulla Fernandez announces Trigunian Departure, set for October
The Defense Minister, Lt. General Ursulla Fernandez, announced the end of the Status of Forces Agreement between the United Republic of Kalistan and the Trigunian Democratic Federative Republic.
"Trigunia's four year mission at Kalistan is at an end," announced General Fernandez, speaking before an assembled group of Staff Officers at Bozo River CAGCC. "With that, Trigunia will be withdrawing from Ananto when the SOFA expires in October. This will provide Trigunia six months to draw their operations in the Northern Anantonese Ocean to a close, and finish training operations in the Combined Air Ground Command Center."
Buzz around the departure of Trigunia has floated around the Government since the resolution of the elections. Like the President, General Fernandez is a Brethrenist, and as a member of the National Conservative Party, she is a strong Kalistani Nationalist. The withdrawal of Trigunia from the region appears to be a step to reduce the simmering regional tension.
"One of the reasons Trigunia was invited to Bozo River was as a security enhancement for Kalistan's defense," said Militiary analyst Tomi Jean Stuart. "The Defense Minister has said recently that Kalistan's Navy has taken these four years to enhance their naval and ground security both in the Strait and around Ananto. At the same time, as the Government begins to move away from a strictly oil-based economy, as they have shown signals toward, the strategic defense of the KalNaPeCo assets becomes less of an imperative. Plus, the General is both a Brethrenist and a Nationalist, so it makes sense that she would make this move soon after taking office."
The response of the Opposition was tepid. "We think that the inability of the government to renew the SOFA with Trigunia is shortsighted," said Opposition leader Gail Trevino. "We hope the Government has a plan to replace the hole this creates in our National Defense capability." The leader of the UKWF, Hamlin Guttierez added later, "It seems to me that the Socialist Party has struck a balance between nationalism and Brethrenism, but it certainly appears that they are abandoning Leftism, and decreasing the overall defense of the Left on the Globe." At the end of the day, the Opposition offered a bill for supplemental Defense appropriations for the General Fund for the research and development of a new class of Frigate, which the Majority approved.
The timing of the announcement was meant to coordinate with the expected arrival of Luthorian Imperial envoys who seek to discuss and receive Kalistani understanding on Eastern Seleyan Security.

Kalistani Investors charter Kalistani Banking Consortium
New Financial Institution Aims to replace Iokua Services in Kalistan Kaliburg, Ananto May 2, 2025
Meeting of Representatives of Small Private banks and Kalistani investment community vote to form KBC
At the end of April, representatives of Kalistan's largest private sector Banking groups met in Kaliburg to discuss and charter a new Nationwide Investment Bank called the Kalistani Banking Consortium, or the KBC. The Organization created a new charter for an investment bank to fill the gap left by the Keymonite Iokua Bank's sudden ejection from Kalistan last year.
"There are more than 25 small local savings banks here in Kalistan," said KBC spokeswoman Beverly Remmick. "The Republican Goverment, in its charter of the Republican Bank, more or less sucked all the oxygen out of the financial system, and left our organizations too small to perform the more advanced functions of a modern financial system. Our experience with Iokua reminded us about what is possible, and taught us that we can do it ourselves."
Major investors in local banks, as well as the small group of private investors voted to capitalize the National investment bank at a modest K25 Million in the first year, and then an additional K10 Million over the next 10 years. The KBC will issue a total of 100,000 shares to the initial investors, and then will issue 11,000 more a year to the general public for the next 9 years to raise additional funds. This will ensure that the Banking consortium remains under Kalistani control, as per the National Investment Law. The stock will be traded on the Kalsie under the symbol KBC.
"This is a very exciting time for Kalistani investors," said Remmick. "The small savings banks will remain independent in the savings branch of the Consortium. However, the new KBC's investment arm, whose capital will be kept entirely separate from the savings arm, will offer modern investment services including underwriting for insurance companies and loans, and advising for financial investors. We also intend to open an international currency exchange, where investors can buy and sell international currencies. Investments will enjoy very limited insurance by the Republican Bank, which will cover mainly private pension funds and loans for particular sectors in the economy which the Government seeks to promote."
The Finance Minister, Joan Gallegos (NCP) who was initially in favor of the original Iokua deal praised the efforts of the Kalistani investors. "These people suffered last year when we removed the dispensation of the Investment Law and Iokua was made to leave the country. Their earnings outlook was severely curtailed, and we have seen most of the wealth they would prefer to have working for them and for the Republic was left idle. But having organized a new bank where these investors now own shares in the Bank gives them a stake in the economy once more and gives them a reason to see it succeed."
The KBC will open for public investment by June, and currency stockpiles will begin being built. Meanwhile, investors in the KBC seek to use the Bank to underwrite its first transaction: The purchase of stock in the failing retail outlet known as KalMart, which enjoyed its heyday under Liberal Rule, but has been slowly collapsing due to the overall contraction of the consumer economy following return of Socialist Rule to the country.

Beluzian Refugee Lift begins Leftists to be evacuated en masse to Ananto
Cirrane, Beluzia June 8, 2025
Luggage belonging to Beluzian Leftists is loaded aboard Kalistani cargo planes
Over the next two weeks, more than 6,000 Beluzian leftists and their families will be evacuated from Beluzia thanks to a deal brokered between the Beluzian and Kalistani Governments. Envoys from the Kalistani Government based at the Kalistani interest section in the Beluzian capital hammered out the details last week, following the vote in the Beluzian Government to let the refugees go.
"We are happy to have these individuals move to Kalistan and will work diligently to resettle them," said Gina Corydon, envoy from the Kalistani Foreign Ministry in Beluzia and head of the refugee resettlement program in the Kalistani Interest Section. "Over all, we expect to receive more than 10,000 Beluzians, mostly Leftist militants, but also many immediate family members."
Under the deal reached between Kalistan and Beluzia, those to be evacuated include low ranking Leftist Partisans who have been involved in a 4 year long insurgency which was finally defeated earlier this year. Many Leftists took the further step of taking advantage of a Beluzian amnesty offer and turned themselves in.
Over the next month, 65 direct passenger flights between Kalistan and Beluzia will take place. Meanwhile, passenger service within Kalistan and to Dovani and Keris has been suspended while the passenger craft were put into service of evacuation. The ships will fly from Kalistan, over Dovani, stopping for fuel in Lourenne, Liore, and New Englia before landing in Beluzia. Total flight time from Kalistan will be over 24 hours. Two direct flights a day will move about 2000 refugees a week to Kalistan. In addition to the passenger flights, the Kalistani Military will fly cargo planes to Beluzia to carry personal belongings. Kalistani officials will travel along to limit luggage to personal belongings and valuables, but no furniture or bulky items will be carried. Kalistan has agreed to direct flights for any additional refugees who surrender through March of 2026.
Once in Kalistan, refugees will be moved to a refugee camp at O'Rourke, west of Dah in Ananto, where they will be processed for Kalistani citizenship. Able bodied men will be invited to join with Kalistani National Service Program cadets who will build housing and city infrastructure for the refugees. Refugees will also be free, following grant of Kalistani Citizenship, to move at liberty throughout the Republic and settle where they please, but as part of the agreement, they will not be permitted to travel back to Beluzia until additional diplomatic agreements are made between the two governments. The right of return and extradition are explicitly refused at this point.
Building will be the first priority, and national effort will be made to ensure that there is housing for all who want it before the Ananto rainy season begins in November. In addition, Beluzian children will be enrolled in school, and the refugees will be assigned special political officers to help them navigate the Kalistani system and acquire the services they will need to become fully integrated into the Republic's population. The refugee airlift is expected to cost the Republic more than K12 Million, which will be drawn from the National Surplus. Once in Kalistan, building of the infrastructure will run an additional K65 million in materials and labor costs. The Republic expects that much of this cost will be offset by the addition of thousands of new workers to the Kalistani economy, which is currently well under capacity due to the restoration of the NSP 6 years ago.
We will continue to document the progress of the airlift, and will feature stories from the new arrivals.

Kalistan rolls out new Close in Weapons system Fully automated Gatling Guns to serve on new air defense Frigate Design Springfield, Odufaray June 18, 2025
New CIWS to provide Kalistani Navy defense from incoming missiles and low level aircraft
The KalMilInCo announced the development and successful testing of the new CIWS which will be deployed on the new Frigates being developed at the Naval Shipyards. The Close in weapons's system, named the Mk29 Sentinel features the M18 Deathtrap 6 barrel 20mm Gatling Gun that fires at a rate of between 3000 and 4500 rounds per minute, depending on whether the system is defending against missiles or aircraft. The gun has a 110 degree elevation range, and a 360 degree lateral range.
The most important system on the cannon is the electronics. In a partnership between Kalistani Avionics (a branch of KalMilInCo) and KalMD, the gun has the ability to automatically detect and prioritize incoming targets, and calculate, from a database of known possible threats, the amount of ammunition necessary to disable a given target. In this manner, the cannon is both one of the smartest, as well as one of the most efficient weapons entering into the Kalistani Arsenal.
"We will be installing two of these on each new Frigate, which is yet to be classed, and will be coupled with longer ranged SAM batteries installed on the Frigate", said David Lesar, at a short press conference about the new system. They will make the Frigate one of the most important ship in the Kalistani navy, meant to protect the Republic from incoming air threats and to neutralize the gross imbalance of air power between Kalistan and her main rivals.
In field tests the prototype cannons had a target acquisition rate of over 98% and a target neutralization rate of 96.8 percent. Further improvements in the target acquisition systems are expected to be developed before the system is added to the Frigate prototypes. "There are still a couple bugs to work out," said Lesar, "But that is to be expected with such a complex and advanced targeting system. Pairing the gun with the SAM's will be a much easier process."
Once the guns are installed and improved, KalMilInCo has floated the idea of making a version for international sale.

KRTVN celebrates 6 years of Broadcasting Public Funding model demonstrates its superiority over commercial model Kaliburg, Ananto July 18, 2025
KRTVN's Anantonese Antenna Farm, high atop Trichrome Mountain
The Kalistani Radio-Television Network, which is Kalistan's publicly owned media corporation celebrates six years on the air this week. The Radio-Television network broadcasts 24 hours a day, over 15 FM radio channels, 10 AM radio channel, 6 Shortwave frequencies, and 7 VHF channels. In addition to its air-broadcasts, KRTVN broadcasts over 6 digital radio networks and 12 digital television signals.
The idea of the KRTVN was the brain child of David Shinobi, an engineer for the old station KGOT-TV, in Gendaris. Shinobi, who studied economics while employed by the privately owned station, argued that independent private commercial television was an incredibly inefficient model. "The goal of course was to serve advertisements to people. The programming we ran, soaps and talk shows during the day, network programming, comedies and fantasies in the evening, and news, which of course was designed to not offend the sponsors, was merely the wrapping for the advertisements. As a result, we got bland programming that few people actually liked, and which they only watched because it was all that was on."
As costs increased, stations had to resort to selling more and more commercials per hour, and laying off news staff. Shows became less intelligent, and relied on lowest common denominator humor and cheap gimmicks. Shinobi wrote a letter to his Deputy in early 2019, the recently elected Socialist from the area, and asked if some action could be saved to save Kalistan's airwaves, which had been permanently leased to private radio and television stations. The Socialist Deputy, Louis Hayes, worked with Shinobi over the next couple months, and came up with a piece of legislation to take the airwaves back from private leases. The Socialist Government ended the leases based on a clause within the lease which gave the Government the right to revoke the lease for malfeasance.
Once the airwaves were taken back from the Private stations, the Government passed a bill guaranteeing the airwaves of Kalistan to public ownership. At first, many Socialists argued that the National Government was the group who should oversee and administer the airwaves in Kalistan in the name of the people. But Shinobi had a different plan. He and Hayes floated a charter for the new KRTVN, which would truly be controlled by the public.
"The KRTVN was to be a subscriber based network," said Shinobi. "Much like a daily paper, users should pay to use the service, and in turn, they should have control over what is broadcasted."
The initial layout was to have 4 television stations and 10 radio stations. Each would have a programming board made up of all subscribers, who could vote on what sort of programming to run on their chosen station. Local stations could serve as affiliates, running local programming for 6 hours during the day, and National Programming 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening, for a total broadcast say of 14 hours. Most importantly, as the network was subscriber based, commercials and the companies who ran them no longer had any say over the programming. Subscribers would elect an ombudsman board, who would oversee quality.
The Stations originally specialized in formats. KRTVN-1 ran only news, while KRTVN-4 ran music, for example. Stations were expanded to air movies, soap operas (upon request from adamant customers) and sports. New Stations ran dramas, political discussion, arts, and adult content. Meanwhile, radio stations on the FM band ran different genre's of music and on the AM band, they ran everything from political talk to local access programming. All stations had a single set of standards for decency and quality, and All citizens had input into the operation of the Station.
Due to an agreement between KRTVN and the Republican Government, KRTVN oversaw the operation of Radio Kaliburg, following its founding in 2023. In another alteration of the Network's charter, the Republic agreed to collect a user fee in taxes to pay directly to the Network, and in turn, the Network made access to programming universalized across the Republic. Gone were the ubiquitous translator boxes, and replacing them were air antennas provided free of charge and installed by the NSP on all houses who requested them.
Now, KRTVN is THE Kalistani Network. Unlike State run media, Kalistani radio and television receives absolutely no oversight by the National Government. Radio Kaliburg is the exception: The RTVN administers the station, but it is staffed and operated by the Foreign Ministry, to engage in overseas propaganda. All broadcast media now travels through KRTVN, and falls under its charter. In the near future, KRTVN is planning to convert to digital signals for all of its broadcasts. This should allow the Network to broadcast more data across a narrower spectrum, freeing frequencies up for more stations to broadcast. Meanwhile, KRTVN is viewed and listened to by more than 30 million Kalistanis daily, for at least 15 minutes. Most users listen to Kalistani Radio in their automobiles, watch Kalistani tv at home and when traveling, and take an active role in programming of the Network.
We celebrate 6 years of the KRTVN, and look forward to the changes planned to come with this innovative publicly funded model of Broadcasting.

BRIEF: Kalistani Investors to expand investment to Lourenne Development to focus on Lourenne's agriculture and manufacturing sectors Kaliburg, Ananto September 3, 2025
Kalistani investment bank KBC has approved loans to local farmer cooperatives in Lourenne with the aim of encouraging development of more modern agricultural techniques. The aid will involve subsidizing the purchase of KMC farm implementation by Lourenne's farmers, enough to ensure that modern techniques may be readily adopted. "It is in our interest to look to the development of our neighbors' agriculture sector" said KBC spokesperson James Scott. "Once yields go up, KBC investors seek to start a ag product purchasing organization to negotiate with farmers and ensure them good prices for their produce. With the right tools in hand, Lourenne has the potential both to dramatically improve the quality of life for its own people, while also supplementing Kalistani food supplies. What we, and the Lourennian farmers imagine is a full green revolution." Along with direct investment going into both opening new farm lands and dramatically increasing the yields on existing farm land through increase of productivity, KBC investors are working with KalMD and AeroKal to open new plants to begin producing for the Kalistani Market. One area of interest is a detectable bauxite reserve recently identified in Lourenne's south eastern hill country. Said Scott: "Bauxite is in short supply in Kalistan, and we rely on foreign suppliers for what aluminum that we have. But a regular supply of bauxite to create aluminum would both help Kalistan and Lourenne. We will be working with Lourennian geologists to discover whether there is enough bauxite there to be commercially viable. If the site proves to contain significant quantities of bauxite, there will be a tremendous amount of investment going in that direction."

Kalistani National Assembly Passes Landmark Prison Abolition Act Reforms to go into effect beginning in May Kaliburg, Ananto March 12, 2026
In a landmark piece of legislation, Kalistan became one of the first nations in Terra to take steps toward ending mass incarceration. Currently, there are more than 150,000 Citizens in Kalistani jails and prisons across the Republic. This represents about one third of one percent of the population. While this does not seem like a high number of people given Kalistan's generally permissive laws, critics argue that Kalistani prisons present inhumane conditions which dehumanize their residents and prevent rehabilitation.
"Prisoners are fed three meals a day, which consist of enough nutrients for survival," said Poppy Bennots, a national Prison Reform activist, "But we can hardly describe their diet as varied. Prisoners either work in association with the NSP, or hang out in their cells. The Prisons are breeding grounds for crime and recidivism, and most of our prison population are in prison for non-violent crimes. A third of the inmates are there on their first offense."
Opponents of the passage argued that prison abolition went to far. IPoK Deputy Thomas Sanderson said, "What do we do when we actually need to segregate people from the rest of the society? Will this bill deny us the ability to keep our country safe?" Others advocated sentencing reform. "We could lower amount of time spent in prison," said Conservative Deputy Eddie Takahashi, from Dulnerstaad, "we could move some crimes from felonies, where people can lose their freedom, to misdemeanors, where they just have to pay a fine or spend a little time in jail. But why get rid of prisons? I agree with others: when we really need them, we will want them." Police and Prison Guards unions spoke virulently against the bill, claiming that the bill would make the society more violent, would threaten women and children in society, and would lead to loss of jobs for their members, a point they were insistent was the least important point for them.
At the end of the day, the bill passed 165-54, with 31 abstaining. Most of the support came from Socialists, while opposition was made up of Conservatives and Deputies from law and order caucuses of other Parties.
The act will take effect on May 1. The Kings Rock facility is expected to open October 1, and penitentiaries currently under the Ministry of Justice will begin closing soon afterward. Local Governments will be permitted to retain local jails, for the purpose of holding people awaiting trial, but permanent residency in the Jail is no longer permitted. If a prisoners is not remanded to the custody of the Republic, the local Governments must present explicit reasoning to hold someone in a jail while they await trial.
Below is the text of the Prison Abolition Act.

KalNaFerCo to sell iron ore to Beluzia Trades commodity for Ethanol at cost

The National Ferromineral Company will sell a small supply of iron ore to Beluzia
A bilateral trade deal was concluded between Kalistan and the fascist nation of Beluzia. The deal follows on the heels of the 2025 opening where Kalistan evacuated 6,000 Beluzian leftists, saving their lives and allowing them to live peacefully on Ananto.
"We were approached in 2025 by representatives of a Beluzian Agriculture Association," said Kalistani Trade Minister Helen Phillips-Sherman, (NCP), "seeking to acquire petroleum. Kalistan was and is interested in acquiring a supply of ethanol to help reduce the emissions from our gasoline. Beluzia offered to trade us that ethanol, created from their massive potato fields, for an equal value of our oil. Nothing came of that deal, but we were recently approached once more at the Interest Section in Beluzia's capital, and this time, Beluzia was seeking iron ore. We agreed at that time to a one time deal, iron for ethanol."
The Trade Minister outlined the specifics of the Plan:
Kalistan would send 50,000 metric tons of refined magnatite and taconite to Beluzia. The ore, mined from the Neveras Iron Range, will be refined at the KALNAFERCO Ore Refineryin Bong Valley, Nevaras and will be shipped overland to Sulari, where it will be loaded onto ships for transport to Beluzia. There will be five shipments of oiled Ingots, 10,000 tonnes each, between August and December of this year. Kalistani raw ore is currently priced at K80.07, which is about 35% lower than world prices, due to hefty subsidies from the National Government and the not-for-profit business model of the Nationalized Industry. Given the Republic's annual production of 3.2 million tonnes of refined ore, the deal will not significantly affect National production.
In return, Beluzia will prepare and ship just over 10,000 Kilolitres of ethanol to Kalistan, 2,000 kilolitres at a time in five shipments. The Beluzian government has offered a K0.34/gallon discount for the ethanol in response to Kaliburg's discount. Both states will pick up their own shipping costs.
As this value creates neither a trade surplus or deficit, neither state will generate a profit from the sale. The Trade Minister notes how important this is: "As distasteful as we happen to find the ideology of the Beluzian Government, we find that Beluzia has something we would like and we have something they would like. In this case, business is business. We do not profit from Fascism, and Fascism does not profit from socialism. It is an even trade, and as such, can be seen as a neutral deal, neither supporting nor hurting another state."
Kalistanis use 3.2 million gallons of gas a day. It is expected that the arrival of the ethanol and the admixture into fuel will satisfy Kalistan's demand for ethanol for just about a year and a half. While there is no further news with regard to a regular supply of ethanol fuel, this will help KalNAPeCo save one gallon of gasoline out of six into late 2029. The Premier applauded the deal on these terms. "That's a dramatic decrease in emissions, and extends our supply of oil. KALNAPECO is working on developing alternative energy sources, and this will give them additional time and resources to do so in a shorter time span. The delivery of Beluzian ethanol to Kalistan will be very welcomed, and it more than makes up for any profit Kalistan would have realized if our Nationalized companies were privatized. We are always open to more such deals, and look forward to a more productive relationship with the other nations of the world."
Two successful deals between the Republic and Beluzia signal thawing relations between the two ideological states. While the future remains unclear, it seems that Kalistan is at least opened to talking with the pariah state, and will do business if the terms are even for all Parties involved.

AeroKal to begin Commercial Service between Dovanni, Keris and SeleyaCarrier to link Louives, Giurgiu and Ellingston to Kaliburg; aims to purchase 30 new A1 liners from Kalopia Kaliburg, Ananto October 2, 2030
AeroKal launches bid to dominate intercontinental service between Dovani, Keris and Seleya
Kalistan's airline, AeroKal, which has been developing Kalistan's aluminum industry over the past five years, has recently concluded a deal to purchase 30 new A1 passenger liners from Kalopia's AirLift. This bold purchase comes as AeroKal has announced the opening of regular passenger service between Louives, Lourenne, Giurgiu, Kizenia and Ellingston, in Lodamun, with several flights daily to and from the hub at Kaliburg International Airport in the capital.
"Our existing fleet is sufficient for domestic travel," said AeroKal's CEO Felicia Thomasson, "But so far, flights to and from Kalistan to other nations have been essential charter flights. Our fleet is getting older, and though we are finally producing enough aluminum in the nation to begin very limited construction of our own, we will need new aircraft with longer range sooner than we can build a new fleet here in Kalistan. When we heard that the A1's were on the market, we jumped at the chance to purchase as many as we could, with the aim of positioning ourselves as a major carrier acros the Anantonese Ocean."
The current launch of service, with direct flights between the four capital cities is expected to be innagurated on November 2, of this year, as AeroKal's 12 longest distance jets, the three decades old passenger liners the KMC-42s being moved onto these international lines, while the direct flights between Kaliburg and Sulari being serviced by recommissioned KMC-18s. "We've had to double the number of flights between the Capital and Suldanor just to maintain service, so we have refitted some of our smaller planes until the A1's arrive from Kalopia," said Thomasson.
Meanwhile, she gave some details of the refurbished 42's. "These planes were built during the earliest part of the decade. We've been at work over the last year to retrofit the old 42s so that they have modern conveniences like in flight wi-fi for the business commuters, as well as extra leg room in both business and first class. We are excited to report that though each plane will carry fewer passengers, there will be spacious seating and new amenities on our international flights in all classes. First class customers will enjoy eazychair style recliners, while business and coach class passengers will be seated in manual recliners which offer a 145degree recline. All classes in international travel will be provided with free inflight food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and entertainment, courtesy of a cooperative deal with KRTVN, which will air first run movies, television programming, and on-demand streaming audio complimentary to all passengers." Domestic flights can expect upgrades to service as well with new inflight entertainment and food options coming into service beginning in November.
The retrofitted 42s will remain in service through 2036, when they will be replaced by the AirLift jets.
"This is an exciting time for AeroKal. Since divestment, we have been a small domestic service. But now we are poised to make a breakout into the tricontinental Market, and become a major player in passenger service."
