Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) Looks Outside Borders
Armed guards stand vigil outside the Parliamentarian Palace, where confidential meetings of the Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) are being held. (Qart Qildar) The Cildanian government is toying with the idea of the creation of an international Pan-Majatran union, according to various sources that wish to remain anonymous. The proposed union would supposedly handle things such as trade, military matters, judicial issues, and currency exchange, among other things. As no proposal has yet left the Parliamentarian Palace, however, nothing more can be said for certain at this time.

Politician Comes Out as "Serpent Sycophant", Shocking Many
(above) Guzi Somerville , age 32, from a 2018 campaign ad. (Qart Qildar) A prominent legislator has just admitted to being a member of a polytheistic cult. In an unassuming press conference in Democracy Square, up-and-coming politician of the Partit Nazzjonali tax-Xogħol (National Labor Party) Guzi Somerville (AN Seat-257) made his confession to the public. "It's time to come clean. I am not Hosian. I have not been Hosian for the last decade. In January of 2009, I was invited by my mentor, Ġwakkin Custo (AN Seat-341) to attend a ceremony of The Order of the Serpent Enthroned, his faith. He promised me that it would lead to political opportunities. While I originally attended these ceremonies only for power, over time, I found a faith I could truly call my own. Today, I am proud to say that I am a member of The Order, and I am equally proud to announce that we shall no longer hide in the darkness, but shall bask in the light."
The Order of the Serpent Enthroned has been the subject of rumors and conspiracy theories since its earliest recorded mention in the 1100s. While details on the religion/cult are scarce and often contradictory, it is known that they are polytheistic and believe that the world was hatched from a giant egg laid by the goddess Ophiolat, the titular Serpent Enthroned. Somerville alleged that "around sixty percent of the Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) are a member of The Order." He also claimed that more details about the faith would be released soon, and "I am far from the only person who will come out." He finished the press conference by saying, "I have not let my religion influence my politics or how I vote in the Assembly. I know not everyone will believe me. Call me a serpent sycophant if you wish, and if that is the consequence of me being honest, than so be it."
Somerville's announcement sparked an immediate response from the Apostolic Church of the Isles. Patriarch David VIII , alongside various religious leaders of the Yeudi and Ahmadi communities, gave a written statement, saying "The Apostasy of Guzi Somerville is deplorable. He should be ashamed of lying to the people of Cildania, and the religious communities of Cildania request he resign from the National Assembly."
At this time, neither the Partit Nazzjonali tax-Xogħol (National Labor Party) nor Ġwakkin Custo have responded to our requests for comment. Our coverage of this story will continue as it unfolds.
Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) Goes Public for the First Time, Talks DrugsA Cildanian Philamania field owned by Majatran Medication, a government run corporation, outside Ħasrija, Jilrit. Cildanian Philamanias are used in antidepressants, painkillers, and many other drugs.(Qart Qildar) The Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly)'s first public session in history has occurred today. While a landmark for governmental transparency, the session mainly discussed the dry topic of the status of government owned or subsidized pharmaceutical farms, and the import and export laws regarding the products thereof. The Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) voted to keep the farms running with six hundred and fourteen votes for and one hundred and thirty seven votes against, while the discussion on import and export laws was pushed to tomorrow, due to a lack of time.

Makaila Amairo, Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party) Candidate, Wins Presidency(above) Makaila Amairo, the new president of Cildania. The emergency elections called by former president Ġużepp Said have seen him deposed. Makaila Amairo, the Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party) candidate, has won the election with over sixty three percent of the vote. This election has been tremendous for the Rural Agrarian Party in general, as they have won the most seats in the National Assembly (though not a plurality). This comes as a complete shock to the Parti tat-Teknokratiċi Magħquda (Party of United Technocrats), who have not only lost the presidency but now have only ninety eight seats in the National Assembly. Negotiations are now underway to form a new government.
Cildania Founds New International CollectiveCildania, alongside Kizenia, Kundratia, and Yingdala/Indrala, has founded the Coalition for Cooperation and Security (CCS). The goal of the CCS is to promote economic and political security throughout Terra. In addition, all members of the CCS will have a free trade agreement between them. The CCS ws negotiated between these four nation in a series of secret meetings held on January 2nd, 2018, January 6th, 2019 and on February 23rd, 2019. It is possible that the "Pan-Matajan union" rumors we addressed in January were actually referring to the CCS.

Cildania Stands For Open Navel Travel The Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) has passed a motion affirming the nation’s commitment to freedom of travel on the open sea. The motion passed almost unanimously, with seven hundred and eight votes for and forty two votes against. While the resolution does not specifically name Kalistan, many believe that this is in response to that nation’s closing of the Ananto Strait. The full text of the resolution is below:

Cildania Recognizes Fascist Revolution in Beluzia and Other Revolutions, Condemns Expulsion of Kalistani Diplomats(above) The new flag design of Beluzia Foreign minister Ġulju Schranz, a member of Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party), has released a massive press release in after a long period of government silence. In it, he stated that "The nation of Cildania formally recognizes the Fascist Revolution that has occurred in Beluzia, and affirms that the government currently in power in the Dáil is the rightful government of that nation. We find no reason to hold Fascist revolutions any different to the various Metzist revolutions that have occured in various nations, such as in Likatonia and Trigunia, which we also recognize. The further status of Cildanian-Beluzian relations will be dependent on the actions that the new government takes. In additon, Ġulju Schranz also condemned the expulsion of Kalistani diplomats from Darnussia. "While Cildania condemns Kalistan's actions in the Annato Strait crisis, we also condemn the actions of Darnussia in retaliation as dangerous towards interntional diplomacy and request that all nations respect the rights of foreign dignitaries. Cildania hopes to set an example of such respect."
The Order of the Serpent Enthroned Popularity Grows, Poll Finds(above) An ancient Qildarian depiction of Ophiolat, proving the Order's primeval roots A recent poll, done by the Royal University in Qart Qildar, claims that over eighty percent of Cildanians view the Order of the Serpent Enthroned favorably, and only about five percent view it with hostility. This is despite the vile rhetoric of former president Ġużepp Said, which was broadcast to the nation almost unconstitutionally via national announcement. Over five hundred and three members of the Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) are members of the religion, as are all of the board of directors of this publication (which, we must note, has no effect on our coverage of the Order of the Serpent Enthroned).
Endangered Parrots, Marijuana Seized by Cildanian Port Authority; ODEN Asked if They Want it Back(above) A Kapopo Parrot, native to New AlduriaThe head of the Awtorità tal-Port ta 'Ċildan (Cildanian Port Authority), Zakkarija Orlan , has announced the arrest of an individual (who, under Cildanian Privacy Law, shall be refered to as "Mr. X"), for the trafficking of fifteen endangered Kapopo Parrots, native to New Alduria, alongside nearly fifty tons of Marijuana. When questioned, Mr. X claims that both the parrots and the drugs were heading to Beiteynu, where both are illegal. According to Mr. X, he planned to hide the birds in the Marijuana, because "Their the same [EXPLETIVE] color, [EXPLETIVE]." and that he got the drugs from " The real OGs, the gods of dank, ODEN.". Zakkarija Orlan explained that the massive amount of the drug are causing a problem, because "Its taking up all the room inside our storage facility. I know that its legal, in some provinces at least, but its actually illegal to sell confiscated goods under Cildanian law." "ODEN can take it back if they want," Zakkarija Orlan continued, but "If they don't we are just gonna burn it all. I mean, whats the worst that could happen?"

Provincial Poll for March Elections Released(above) Map of Cildania. With various Monarchist factions taking power, through revolutions or referendum, around the world, it seems that Monarchism is seeing a worldwide resurgence. In a poll conducted by Taht University, over seventy percent of people in the province of Aqildar supported the far right monarchist Partit Irjali u Nobbli (Royal and Noble Party) for the upcoming March elections. While the Partit Irjali u Nobbli (Royal and Noble Party) has always been popular around the old royal residence in Qart Qildar, the inland and rural areas of Aqildar have always been a stronghold for The Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party), and this shift may mean disaster for the ruling party. The poll also found that the Partit Irjali u Nobbli (Royal and Noble Party) is supported by forty eight percent of respondents in Aheblun, giving them a plurality in the province, which historically has been divided between the Partit Nazzjonali tax-Xogħol (National Labor Party) and the Partit Federali (Federalist Party). In Gilżon, the Partit Federali (Federalist Party) polled with a fifty one percent majority, a large fall from the eighty percent majority they held in the previous poll. The Partit Nazzjonali tax-Xogħol (National Labor Party) continued to hold a majority in its heartland of Jilrit, with sixty five percent of respondents holding it favorably. Surprising nobody, the Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party) maintained its eighty seven percent majority in the largely agricultural province of Kinaan in the poll. The Parti tat-Teknokratiċi Magħquda (Party of United Technocrats) polled with a fifty two percent majority in Velieres, which is a large drop for the former ruling party. The autonomous district (not technically a province) of Ancium polled with a ninety three percent majority for the Partit Sindikist (Syndicalist Party).
Universal Healthcare Abolished, Funds to go to Military Reform(above) The Xebba Sabiħa, on its way to patrol the Selcuo-Cildanian Strait In a massively decisive decision, the Assemblea Nazzjonali (National Assembly) voted five hundred and twelve to two hundred and thirty eight to end the policy of universal health care. The ¤234 billion Cildanian Scudos will go towards improving the military of the nation by developing and obtaining new state of the art equipment. While the navy has always been ranked among the top twenty in the world (claims that this is due to the trend of other nations reducing the size of their navies are unpatriotic and are punishable with a ¤125 fine), the army haslargely been untouched by reforms or new equipment since 1998. When this decision was announced, massive protests began in Ancium and Velieres City. The Military claims it has these protests under control.

The Partit Irjali u Nobbli (Royal and Noble Party) won in Aqildar, Aheblun, and, in a major upset, in Gilżon. The Partit Agrikolu Rurali (Rural Agrarian Party), predictably, won Kinaan, but also pulled a major upset in Jilrit. The Partit Sindikist (Syndicalist Party), having abosorbed most of the members of the Parti tat-Teknokratiċi Magħquda (Party of United Technocrats) after a series of scandals, has won Velieres and the Autonomous District of Ancium.
Ancium Declares Independance from Cildania after Monarchist Victory
(above) The proposed flag for the "Syndicalist Republic of Punicar". The governor of the Autonomous District of Ancium, Citro Renatus, has declared independance from Cildania. Ancium is an autonomous district of Cildania, notable due to its high Seluco-Cildanian population. "The decisions of the previous government, which included massive cuts to welfare programs and healthcare, have not only hurt Ancium, but Cildania as a whole." said Citro. "With the recent elections indicating that these decisions are not only endorsed by the deceived people of Cildania, but will now go even further under the new monarchist government, we, the people of Ancium, declare independence from the nation of Cildania, and now reorganize ourselves as the Syndicalist Republic of Punicar, (note: Punicar is an old Selucian term for Cildania) and call on all like minded Cildanians to join us. While we shall not take up arms yet, but, if it proves necessary, we shall rise up against this oppressive government." Immediately following this, the Cildanian army surrounded the Autonomous District of Ancium, and there are reports of limited skirmishes between loyalist and secessionist forces along the border. Many worry that the incoming Syndicalist governor of Velieres, Alcmena Aemilius, also a Selcuo-Cildanian, might join Ancium in rebellion. However, Makaila Amairo, the current President of Cildania, stressed the need for peace in a statement to the Cildanian people. "We need to remain calm." Makalia said. "This is not the first time Ancium has threatened secession. At least, this time, they are not pledging allegiance to Selucia. We will not begin a civil war while peace is an option, but the so-called "Syndicalist Republic of Punicar" must be aware the retribution for any transgressions shall be swift. We also ask the nations of the world not to intervene unless violent action is taken by the secessionists. Obviously, military support for the "Syndicalist Republic of Punicar" shall be seen as an act of war."

Two States, One Nation: Cildania Avoids Civil War(above) The new flag for the Kingdom of Qendaria, a Constituent State. (below) The new flag for the Syndicalist Republic of Punicar, a Constituent State.
A potentially devastating civil war has been avoided, thanks to the countless work of peacemakers on both sides. President Makaila Amairo announced the adoption of a "Two States, One Nation" policy concerning the Punicar crisis earlier today. "Under this system, both the monarchists and the syndicalists will be able to implement their form of government as "Constituent States" under the Sovereign Republic of Cildania." Makaila stated. "The Sovereign Republic will retain control of the military and infrastructure, but the Constituent States will handle everything else for their populace." Citro Renatus, the Governor-General of the Syndicalist Republic of Punicar, immediately accepted these terms, as did King Ġan II. There will be two "Constituent States": The Syndicalist Republic of Punicar, which shall comprise of the province of Velieres and the Autonomous District of Ancium, and the Kingdom of Qendaria, which shall comprise of the provinces of Aqildar, Aheblun, and Gilżon. The provinces of Jilrit and Kinaan are not currently a part of a Constituent State, but are able to hold a referendum to either join either of the existing Constituent States or create their own.

Constituent States to Send Envoys to Foreign Nations(above) Map showing where envoys are being sent. Countries where Punicar is sending envoys are green, countries where Qendaria is sending envoys are maroon, and Cildania is blue. Citro Renatus, Governor-General of the Syndicalist Republic of Punicar, announced today that he would be sending diplomatic envoys to several foreign nations to establish relations. "The first nation we will be sending envoys too is, of course, Selucia." Citro said to a cheering crowd. "They have always had the greatest impact on Cildanian affairs of any foreign power, and, given our large, and proud, population of Seluco-Cildanians (at this point, the roar of the crowd was so loud that Citro was forced to stop speaking for several minutes) I feel it necessary to establish closer relations. We will also establish closer relations to our comrades in revolution, Trigunia and Kalistan. Trigunia is a beacon of modern progress, whose achievements we wish to emulate in Punicar. Kalistan, I feel, has been misunderstood by the main Cildanian government. We are sympathetic to their plight in the Annato Strait and hope that the main Cildanian government reevaluates thier position." His Royal Excellency, King Ġan II, was quick to respond to this development. "I see the syndicalists have made their move, then." His highness responded at a lavish banquet following a successful hunting excusion. "I will also send diplomatic envoys to curry favor with the kings of Terra. Envoys will thus be sent to King Nicolae of Kizenia, with whom we have historic ties by the CCS, King Clovis of Likatonia, so we can cooperate on establishing royal rule in our nations, and, of course, to His Highness Alonso III of Mordusia, whose government has been instrumental in spreading monarchism around the world. For a similar reason, we shall also be sending an envoy to Sekowo, as they have also helped the monarchies of the world.

Punicar to Institute Massive Economic and Social Reforms (above) A crowd gathers in front of the Kunsill ta 'l-Għaqdiet (Council of Unions), eager to hear the contents of the new reforms. The Kunsill ta 'l-Għaqdiet (Council of Unions), the governing body of Punicar, passed the "First Step Act" earlier today. The act mandated the formation of Democratic Worker's Councils in every company in Punicar, and transferred control of most companies that operate within their borders to these councils (though the Kunsill ta 'l-Għaqdiet had no authority to interfere with companies owned by the state of Cildania, such as Majatran Medication). In addition, the bill reinstates Universal Healthcare for Punicar, even expanding it so it includes mental health, and procedures like Gender Reassignment Surgery. The bill also gives any worker the right to strike for any reason. The "First Step Act" also included social reforms, such as officially recognizing gay marriage (in the rest of Cildania, same-sex couples can only apply for civil unions), allowing citizens to change their gender on official records, and legalizing abortion, which will also be covered by Universal Healthcare. Finally, the "First Step Act" also set a variety of goals for Punicar, namely, to abolish tuition for universities by 2023, to eliminate rent by 2024, to have an eighty five percent college educated population by 2026, and to improve the Azzjoni Sindikista (Syndicalist Action) paramilitary to "acceptable levels" by 2030, though it did not specify what, exactly, "acceptable levels" meant. Governor-General Citro Renatus, celebrated the reforms. "Today is a great day for Punicar!" Citro thundered to an adoring audience. "As it is named, these reforms are the first step to a true syndicalist republic. Now, each and every worker may enjoy the true fruits of their labor!"

Sixtieth Anniversary of Sovereign Republic of Cildania, Nation Celebrates(above) A fireworks display over Qart Qildar. August 21st, 2022 marks the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the Soverign Republic of Cildania, which was founded on August 21st, 1962. Despite the recent adoption of the "Two States, One Nation" policy, fervent celebrations have occurred across the country. As of the time of reporting, their have been no deaths from fireworks accidents, which is a welcome change from the fiftieth anniversary celebrations in 2012, where three hundred and forty three people died in the town of Asad, Aheblun due to a massive pyrotechnical misfire. However, for some, the celebrations have been bittersweet "Has the republic really lasted sixty years?" Mammas Amini, (AN Seat-242) pondered. "I don't think so. It died when the syndicalists and the monarchists were allowed their own states, and the Hebilians, Cildania's largest minority, and the moderates were denied one."

Cildania to Lower Taxes, Start Tourism Program in Effort to Boost Economy (above) The picturesque town of Taht, Kinaan, which will feature in the upcoming "Only Cildania" campaign. The National Assembly announced earlier today that they would lower the Capital Gains Tax to ten percent (down from twenty percent), effective immediately, in a move to increase investment in Cildania. For a similar reason, the Foreign Investment Tax will be eliminated completely, with foreign investments now only being taxed under the Capital Gains Tax. In addition, the Foreign Minister's office has announced the "Only Cildania" tourism campaign. "The campaign will feature things that can only be done or seen in Cildania." Foreign Minister Taheyyâtt Jamil said in a press conference following the announcement. "Tourism to Cildania has really fallen behind as of late. Before 2018, we were the most visited nation in Majatra, but Selucia has overtaken us. It is time that we retake our spot." According to sources within the Foreign Minister's office, the "Only Cildania" campaign will focus on Luthorian speaking nations.
Jilrit and Kinaan Referendum set for December(above) The proposed flag for the "Agrarian Union of Jilrit and Kinaan", a proposed third Constituent State. Concerns over lack of provincial authority have bolstered voices calling for a Constituent State encompassing Jilrit and Kinaan. While many proposals have been made, such as the "Hebiliean State" (due to these provinces' high Hebiliean populations) and even the "Fascist Revolutionary State of Cildania" (though these seem to be more concentrated on the border with the province of Gilżon), the most popular seems to be the "Agrarian State of Jilrit and Kinaan". Under the "Two States, One Nation" policy, Jilrit and Kinaan have the right to either join an existing Constituent State (Punicar or Qendaria), or create a new Constituent State. Both provinces have announced referendums in December to decide the provinces' next steps. The Syndicalist Republic of Punicar has stated that they will campaign heavily in Kinaan, to prevent the capital of Ancium from being separated from the province of Velieres, with a secondary focus on Jilrit. In response, the Kingdom of Qendaria announced that they would focus on the province of Jilrit, but would also campaign in Kinaan. More will be reported on this story as it develops.

Jilrit and Kinaan to Join the Syndicalist Republic of Punicar After Close Referendum; Mass Protests Begin Around The Nation(above) Mass Protest by Agrarians in Ħasrija, Jilrit. After three months of recounts, the Cildanian High Court threw out over two hundred and fifty thousand votes for "expired registration", leading to Punicar's win in both Jilrit and Kinaan. Immediately after this decision was announced, protests broke out. "The majority of those cut from the vote were Hebileans!" shouted Mammas Amini, (AN Seat-242) to a mob in Ramex, Jilrit. "This is yet another example of racism here in our country! They feared a Hebilean State so much that they gave Jilrit and Kinaan against the people's will to the syndicalists!" Similar feelings were espoused in Ħasrija, Jilrit, where the Leġjun tal-Bdiewa (Legion of Farmers) met. "We have been betrayed by the courts, sold into slavery to sate the syndicalists' appetite!" Ino Salvaloco, current head of the Leġjun tal-Bdiewa (Legion of Farmers) thundered. Meanwhile, Governor-General Citro Renatus, alongside the Azzjoni Sindikista (Syndicalist Action), marched into Keret, the provincal capital of Kinaan, and gave a speech to a seemingly adoring crowd. "Today, Jilrit and Kinaan have been liberated from capitalist oppression!" Citro Renatus crooned. "Now, they shall join us in progress while Qendaria descends into medieval stagnation." His Royal Excellency, King Ġan II, was none to pleased with the result. "The judges were bribed!" His Highness roared at a press conference today. "Their corruption is legendary! Who then, payed them off? Was it the Triginian devils, or was is the Kalistani demons!" Alongside general responses to the result, their has been massive outcry against the "Two States, One Nation" policy, with many calling it the death of a unified Cildania. A protest against the method of government drew nearly one million in Qart Qildar. Alarmingly, the chaos has caused some fringe political viewpoints to be amplified. "The State has sold itself into slavery to the monarchy and the syndicalists." Luwiġi Garrone, head of the Moviment Rivoluzzjonarju tal-Faxxisti (Revolutionary Movement of Fascists), calmly said in a rally in Qartja, Gilżon. "We must regain the power that we have lost to them, if we are to restore peace to Cildania." The President of Cildania, Makaila Amairo, has not responded to requests for comment.

President Makaila Amairo Assassinated; Punicar and Qendaria Enter War; Secessionist Movements Begin (above) Map of Cildania by Territory Controlled Cildania is in a state of Civil War after the death of President Makaila Amairo to an unknown assassin earlier this week. The assailant, using a suicide vest, killed both The President and much of her current cabinet. The Syndicalist Republic of Punicar declared the attacker to be an agent of the Kingdom of Qendaria. "The Monarchists have attempted to destroy the republic!" Citro Renatus, the Governor-General of Punicar, boomed in front of a pristine group of soldiers. "They must be destroyed, before they can kill more people! We call on all good minded Cildanians to join us!" Qendaria had a similar response "Punicar is responsible" droned Mawru Alard, minister of affairs for King Ġan II (who, alongside his daughter, Princess Ġannina III, were in "an unspecified location abroad for a vacation") "We shall remove their economic radicalism from our island."
Many movements, which have been boiling underneath the surface for years, are now coming to fruition. An angry mob, led by one Kyra Malosa, has forced monarchist forces out of southern Aquildar. They have set up a new government in Qart Qildar and pledge to "restore democracy", calling themselves the "Serene Republic of Cildania". Meanwhile, the prominent general Ġorġ Pellicano has declared both Qendaria and Punicar to be "enemies of the Cildanian state", and has seized a sizable amount of territory from Qendaria. In Punicar, large amounts of territory has been seized by the Agrarian Union of Jilrit and Kinaan and the Hebilean State. The Fascist Revolutionary Movement of Cildania has also seized territory, as have various theocratic factions.
Their remains no official culprit for the assassination of Makaila Amairo.
This situation is ongoing.
